Fake it until you make it?

He plays bad guys well. Liked him as Torquemada and Dutch Schultz.

I can't tell you how many truly awful films I've watched just because Henriksen was in them. I always like him. I'd love to see him do a comedy, though, just because it's so against his type-cast.

I got Near Dark confused with Pitch Black ; which is one of the finest post-Alien sci-fi/horror films.

Yes, an excellent film. I find that I test people with it. They don't have to love it like I do, but if they're not at all impressed it's like the chick who doesn't lean over to unlock your door after you've seated her in the car: strike one.

You're going to love this, Click me. Best quote from the site, and envious i didn't come up with it.
"After a while people have to take responsibility for their own actions for what they do in this world. I'll take responsibility for what I do. But political correctness and V chips and telling me to wear a styrofoam helmet in the bath tub 'cause I might slip and fall doesn't do it for me. I love the feeling that I am making my own choices and living by them. Leave some room for the human condition. We're not perfect and never will be."

Oh stop it, i've got the giggles now.

I'm a very new sub and I've a very new Dom as well .

So I know he is new as I am . But the fact he can pretend very well and very strongly his level of knowledge gives me a certain sense of ease and self confidence in my new sub skills.

I must add that being a really alpha person in my daily life , with a job of high level and responsability which needs continue and fast decisions and a big amount of problem solving , not only for me but for other people involved as well ... to subdue me is an hard work !

I rather have the tendency to top from the bottom so a really firm hand is needed to not make me go out of the " line " .

I know it is not easy but I'm doing my best learning to follow instead to lead ( as my habits would push ), I'm learning the subtle joy to surrender . And a bit of fake experience in my Dom is welcome cause I know I could ( and I would know how ) take advantage of his hesitations in lead and discipline me .

I know we have both a lot to learn but I 'm working hard on it and his self confidence really helps me a lot .

Hope I didn't go out of thread but its just my lil experience on the subject . :rose:

:)

OK, OK, I'll have to check it out again. I can't remember much about the movie, which is a bad sign. I imagine I was probably otherwise occupied at the time. I do LOVE Keith David.

As well you should be! We're a vicious bunch of backstabbers, so watch out!! :D

Quick, somebody knock me off my cloud. In the space of a day I've given the Assassin the giggles and guilted the Marquis into re-watching a movie he didn't care for.

I'm likely to get a terribly inflated opinion of my powers.

.....which is sort of on topic.

What did I tell you Rosco? Give 'em an inch...

Next thing you know you're shelling out half a paycheck to get dressed up in diapers and crawl around the nursery section of some seedy dungeon.

Women lose points if they're dressed up and then sprawl over the armrest and seats. Especially as there's a button right beside them with the words lock/unlock under it.

You're the first person I've ever heard claim to be more impressed by a woman so concerned with her appearance that she can't offer a common courtesy like unlocking a door.

Not what Never said tempestuous one. She said the intelligent woman would flip the auto door lock/unlock button on her door handle. That implies a possible combination of three things:
  • The car has automatic door locks (can't blame her for having good/expensive taste in cars)
  • the button will work regardless if you have keys in the ignition or not
  • and/or perhaps the woman flipping the button got seated in the driver's side (making the issue about keys in the ignition moot)

Oh, come now, I'm all for giving the benefit of the doubt but even I have my limits.

hahaha, I thought that was "choosier"

Take a guess.

damn, this is hijacked all the way into the next county.

sorry, sorry!

I'll stop now.

Not hijacked at all ... this is about faking/making it. Whether 'tis nobler to outwit one's counterpart with the "nuts" for hole cards, or not.

Which is sweeter? Pulling off the most massive bluff, or watching the eyes crash when you back up your bet?

Honestly, I'm not much of a game player. If given the choice I'd always rather have the goods but I can't deny taking satisfaction in being able to pull off a solid bluff.

And therein lies the point. Desire to play the bluff game sometimes gets outweighed by necessity.

For the record, i'd rather have suited Big Slick in the hole with the queen, ten of like suit on the table prior to the river. i find a certain satisfaction to saying "All In" without hesitation. When he arrives, suited correctly, a simple "You don't know Jack" will crumple a face.

One last thing, if you don't pay for them, you never see the hole cards. i never trumpet a successful bluff. The moment you do, you appear crass.

And you never get away with it again. ;->

I see a difference between the bluff and the FITYMI under discussion earlier. A bluff, to me, is something that you know is emtpy --- when revealed it is always empty. FITYMI isn't empty if you succeed --- the success is what fills it up.

It's like having a handful of nothing and staying in the game because you're confident that when the trump is decided it'll be what you're holding in your hand.

-B

Nah, wait, that's a really lousy analogy. Scrap it.

A bluff to me is a lie you're telling that you KNOW you're telling. You absolutely know that you are, and if you get caught there's no redeeming it.

FITYMI is only a lie of confidence --- you may be projecting a bravado or assurance you don't feel, but the "lie" is in the presentation not in your capacity to deliver.
