Flogging--Poll

The suede flogger I bought around Valentines Day LAST YEAR still stinks of the dye they used to color the fall. I will never buy anything like this again online.

Never, ever, ever. It's red though, perhaps I'll mail it to Mr Fung as a Christmas present. Sshhhhhhh don't tell him it's stinky , m'kay:cool:

Just my opinion.

Not that I am that experienced in flogging, but somewhat, I have always been of the understanding that the meaty parts of the body are the floggable parts. I don't remember where I heard the saying but it goes like this....beat the meat, leave the bone alone. For some reason that has always stuck in my mind. Must be a man thing...grins... Always remembering to stay away from joints, vital organs, and areas where the bone is close to the surface.
Another point is not stretching the skin tight, such as lifting the arms over the head for instance. This stretches the skin over the shoulder blades creating less meaty tissue covering them. Not saying it is a dangerous spot, but with the arms downward slightly and to the front the area will be able to take much more.
Also, and this probably goes without saying, you will find there are many more sweet spots after you have prepared the areas by warming and leathering the skin properly during the warm up period, and the flogging will last much longer being more satisfying to both the flogger and the floggee.
On another thought, I have been learning a 6-point florentine and in the process of getting the rythym down, I have also been taking quite a beating myself....what would that be called...a masosadist?....It sure looked alot easier when watching....grins...
Back to the saying I was referring to earlier....remembers why it has always stuck in my mind.....seems like everytime I have followed that rule...beating the meat.....there has always been a bone there....somewhere....go figure...
My apologies....but true.

Pondering

I haven't used a flogger on someone, or had one used on me. I have used, and prefer, my dressage whip, canes, crops and my bat. I will work from top of shoulders down to the calves, skipping kidneys (altho a few light taps across lower back happen) and back of knees. My preference is to stick to the more meaty areas, always starting out lightly, changing impliments during a session, and working my way up to heavier strikes, and then lighter again once I know they are approaching their limit.

Right now the dressage whip is my favorite... like a light-weight, whippy cane. Will wrap if you use it the right way. I like using the tip and flicking back and forth across the body. Can also use the whole length (it's 36" long from tip to handle butt) and lay it along the length of the back, that way you can strike from shoulder to hip. It's light-wieght enough that I don't worry too much about breaking bones if I hit hip or spine accidentally (I try to avoid it, but of course sometimes the willing vitim.. er.. volunteer moves during and the whip lands in places it wasn't intended).

I have used a horsehair flogger with incredibly frustrating results on my end. Mind you, this is more a fly flicker then a true flogger. I couldn't get enough *spin* on it to elicit that little wonderful reaction that I crave...

I'm awaiting delivery of a single tail, and I can't wait to play with it. Have used a quirt with good results, looking forward to a longer whip.

hi

I like to submit to cane on my bare bottom. Severely at times upto20 strokes. I think that is better. My guy tried flogging. It did not give that sting as a cane does!!!

For floggers, I love being hit on my shoulders, center back, my ass and my upper thighs. Also my breasts. My sweet spot, though, is definitely my pussy. I love the feel of a heavy, thuddy flogger between my legs. I like the stingy floggers on my ass and thighs.

But I just plain love being flogged. I'm learning to love canes (never thought that would happen) but it doesn't happen very often.

... On another thought, I have been learning a 6-point florentine
??? Define/describe, please? I often use a florentine pattern (for those not familiar with the term, it generally describes a flogging pattern in figure-eight mode, with one flogger "following" the other). Six-point florentine, however, is a new term to me.

fma, floggers made of different materials can definitely give a nice sting (not up to cane quality sting, but still sting-y)... perhaps the flogger(s) your guy used were of the heavy, thuddy type.

As for the original question, I tend to focus most of my flogging on the buttocks, hips and upper thighs... but then that's where I tend to focus a lot of my attention anyway ;) I do on occasion work the upper back making sure there is very little or no impact on the outer surfaces of the back in the area below the ribs and above the top "edge" of the hips. A pyl peeing blood is not often in my desired results.

My upper back is actually one of my least favorite spots (although all of them are good really.) I wanted to feel it lower, closer to the area described by the OP. It just seemed instinctually that would feel wonderful. Breasts feels nice, ass can take the stronger blows, between the legs...*shudder*... very nice, sole of the foot-just ouch-even lightly.

Sir_Winston, I'm a big fan of Florentine, both to watch and to feel. There is something hypnotic about watching the movements. The consistency of the sensation is divine.

This is a little thing I've been looking at lately - my floggers are different ... one thudy with a sting & the other is heavier but with a softer elk hide (I think....) .. anyway ...

Looks like fun ......
Very cool. The four-beat that she demonstrates near the end is (I think) the simplest to learn; the three- and six-beat florentines look like something I want to work on. :D Thanks a bunch for the youtube link! (While I *might* have been able to figure it out from a verbal description, I can learn much more easily from *seeing* something new.)

The upper back, just below the shoulders, the ass and the thighs (front and back) and the chest. I also use a slender, springy bamboo switch to whip my male minion's erection.

My floggers are 2 different types so i am trying to get it where I can alternate which hand is going first so that the whole pillow (which is all I have used them on to be honest) gets the different sensations........ Have Fun!!
Having worked dual floggers in both florentine and other patterns, I can tell you that IME it's best to try to keep duals at approximately the same weight and length, even if different materials. Weights that vary by more than 10% or so, or lengths that vary by more than an inch or two can create balance issues in the force of the strokes as well as your accuracy. Needless to say, accuracy is the more critical issue, but both can greatly affect the sensations experienced by your pyl, and thus your enjoyment.
