I've been feeling that way lately.

I've worked on being more open with my feelings over the last couple of years but for god's sake. I'm building my own wall these days. A person can only take so much!

It's still okay sometimes to say fuck it to those feelings and deal with them later.
You're only human. Cant take the whole world on your shoulders and expect it to stay up.

I keep thinking of your comment about wearing your past sh*t with pride - the fact you got through the pain, anger, yuk of it and came out stronger, smarter. My shit isn't past, though, it's present. So I am saying fuck it to feelings just to hold things together. It's temporary. I can fall apart later. I have lots of hands to break the fall.

It's surprising but at the same time kind of common here among older people. I've heard stories and seen this kind of thing so much that I just kind of think, "they're old, they won't be here long." When you see a tense stand off between two people in a bank, you kind of see where things are. I get that it's racist, but the person yelling hate is in need of assistance, so I hope they do actually get help tonight. Even if their mind set needs to die with them.

He was getting help. Thats why the nurse was in his room. The nurses and aides here are understaffed and overworked but most tend to give more than minimal care.

Great, I'm glad the person is getting help. Most people in such homes are abandoned and have no family coming to see them or offer help. Just because the person says something you don't like doesn't mean they should be neglected.

Agreed. I believe the nurse was doing his best. It is appalling how our elderly are warehoused. I'm glad I'm here to advocate for husband. Although this guy has family come, too. You're right that many are here alone. I can't imagine.

Been helping my lovely Wife tend to her parents over the last 8 years with her parents at their end of live. Her Pop passed a year ago at 103, Mom turned 100 Friday. Skilled nursing home issues have been a large part of our lives. These are generally good people overworked and way underpaid.

It's considered a lowly job for a nurse to take. Often it's LPNs on the floor with an RN in charge.
I don't consider it lowly. I don't have the patience to do it. For a nurse to be successful at this is to be strong.
Almost always short staffed and way overworked.
