Fuck

Denny

I've built really complex pieces of furniture, so how did I manage to fuck up a simple box? Good thing I always buy extra lumber for projects these days. I'm gonna need a bigger board.
:)You don't need a bigger fuckin board. Just remeasure and cut that one off a little more.
As for being twenty something. I was twenty once and tried to love everyone wearing a skirt.

It's Daytona bike week this week and GatorNationals this coming weekend and we're way up here in Illinois where it's fucking cold..

Here's the desk I mentioned. I designed it and it took me almost a year to build from a pile of rough boards. The desk body and interior are made of Red Alder and Walnut. The legs and stretchers are Maple and I turned/carved them by hand. And, like I said, I sliced the veneers myself.

It's a cylinder top, not a roll top, so the door is a solid piece not slats. The desk surface pulls out and is inset with black granite. It has 3 hidden compartments.

It's mine and I sit at it to pay my bills every month.

Fuck, I gotta go to work now. If anyone wants, I can post other pics of other things I've built but I'll stick them in the crafty thread (if I can find it).

F#@k...I hate when I can't open a link and I want to see something!!! Instead I get some annoying "you don't have access" message!

It sounds like a really nice piece of furniture and a lot of work/craftsmanship.

The pic was there yesterday and now it's gone. I didn't do nuthin'. What The Fuck happened?

Here, let's see if Laurel loves me today or not. (Yay! Apparently she does.)

This is fucking excellent work. 👏

I'm not totally happy with the result. I made some mistakes in the veneering which are visible and detracting when it's examined closely. The writing surface has shifted slightly and has scored the lip of the opening from dragging as it's moved in/out because I didn't calculate enough clearance space for humidity changes.

The nicest part of the project was that it was designed so there are no special techniques involved anywhere. It's all traditional joinery and shaping and finishing. If you can make a shaker chest, you can make a copy of that desk.

And it's MUCH more valuable than it looks. In one of the hidden compartments there's a solid gold coin...

Every craftsman can spot errors in the work that no one else cares about. The bolder part reminds me of something that Chris Becksvoort does in his pieces. Which is to say it's an awesome fucking piece.
