Good News for Big Boobies

My grandmother has decided she's giving me some cash when I reach my goal weight. I've already decided that I'm going to get properly fitted and spend it on 2 - 3 good sets of underwear.

I know there's every chance I'm in the wrong size now, but I know I'll wait till I level out, and then do it properly. And that it will make the world of difference.

=And that it will make the world of difference.

Best thing I ever did was get fitted by the bra fitter at Bergdorf Goodman's, a store I never ever ever go to, because everything costs about a trillion dollars. I was heavier then and my boobs seemed gigantic to me. I think I was wearing about a 38 or 40D.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Fitter told me you want a tight band and a cup that actually fits. She put me in a $100 bra by Rigby and Peller, 34F (or maybe G). What an incredible difference. First, my girls looked amazing - not over-sized and sloppy but just perfect and even perky (I have two kids). It was like losing 10 pounds.

Second, that bra wore like iron (as she said it would). This was about 8 years ago, and I still have that bra.

I lost weight a few years ago and my boobs magically did not get any smaller (weird, I know) and now I just love them (other issues going on there) and never want them to be a different size.

But CutieMouse is right about the American model. Just a few crap sizes that don't work for most women, and Victoria's Secret bras are poorly made and useless for big ones.

I haven't had any issues w/ wires - and I'm 5-1". Fantasie is great, Wacoal has some good bras, but my favorite is still the Rigby & Peller.

I agree it would be great to get CutieMouse to fit you properly - maybe she can give some advice on getting a friend to help you do it?

The first time I got professionally fitted and spent over $100 on a good bra I thought I was going insane. . . but turns out it was the best decision I ever made, the bra has lasted for the last 4 years. I went from wearing a 36D to a 34G- who knew? Sure in the short term a $34 bra from Victoria's Secret is tempting, but a good quality bra is a long term investment. In fact my only regret about loosing 25 lbs since then, is the fact that I can't wear that bra anymore.

I recently justified spending 80 bucks a piece on two Chantelle bras by telling myself that Cutie Mouse spends even more.

Thanks CM!:)

the rigby and peller and fantasie bras are so pretty I wish I had outside gazongas. Every time I like a bra it seems it's always G and bigger only

So WHY do so many women wear the wrong size?

Because 99% of the time "comfort" in clothing = a larger size, so in order to be "comfortable" women wear a bigger back band. In bras, firm = comfortable because the weight gets distributed off the shoulders and to the middle of the back. Or their dysmorphia gets in the way and they assume that because they wear X size clothing they can't possibly be Y size bra. Or because they go someplace where the largest size carried really is a DD and no one's ever even heard of anything fuller than that.

So WHY do so many women wear the wrong size?

in my case i have to say it's probably because i'm not nearly comfortable and touchy-feely enough with my body to do that much fiddling around with and analyzing of my breasts...much less get a stranger (professional like CM) to do it!

So I'm going over these sites, cause it's my yearly 'buy a new bra' thing going on. (Gotta love tax refunds.) The store I bought at last time ... suffice it to say I'm not pleased. For some reason they have this little alligator clip things on the strap, and it's got little pokey's that dig into my arm.

So, I looked at herroom.com, and honestly everything there is on the cheap side. I'm highly suspicious of how supportive a bra is if it's under 50 dollars.

The site OSG posted is English. I went to the conversion site and they don't go up to my size. So I have no idea what I wear in an English size, and I'm not sure I care enough to figure out.

So then I went to these sites:

Panache, Goddess, Elomi and Fantasie

I'm curious - which brand do you think is better?

I'm curious how deep the wire goes - it's really hard to get a wire past a HH cup without ending up poking high under the arm (especially if the woman is under 5'7" or so).

I also wanted to say, because I didn't notice it before, that I do not, under any circumstances, wear an underwire, for the above stated reasons. They hurt me, and I literally have scars from them trying to burrow their way into my arm pit.

Really big bras...

I joined yahoo chatrooms when I was first online in 1998, and found a chatroom called "Big Breasted Women", and in my naivete thought that it was a support group for women with big breasts. Well, in a way it was, actually it was mostly full of men who appreciate women with big breasts.

I was greeted and treated with scorn and derision when I revealed I had size 48L breasts... they offered me two chairs, one for me and one for my breasts, etc, and seemed to think I was joking in order to poke fun at them. I wasn't.

What enrages me every time I see the Triumph Doreen bra, with its trumpetted popularity, is that if you don't want to spend a fortune, the Triumph Doreen is the *only* bra that is available to women of my size. Of course it is the most popular in the world! Many women have no option but to wear it.

I have nothing against it, as such, except that Triumph show such a lack of imagination... they don't do it in interesting colourways, or pretty fabrics. It's an industrial over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder and looks mumsy.

My submissive has purchased a number of beautiful bras from Ulla Lingerie, and I can't speak highly enough of them... but they are expensive and they are underwired. I find that I have a much better shape and fit in them, but I have to sit with very good upright posture, or I find that I have injured myself with the underwiring. However, if you are a larger size, and wish for beautiful, sexy, lingerie, they have it.

What is even more frustrating to me, is that sleep and sports bras are almost exclusively produced for much smaller breasts than mine, when I am in more need of them. It is an obvious example of the market definitely ignoring demand and failing to supply.

I meet a lot of women online with big breasts, and we all wish for the impossible - a comfortable and supportive bra, produced in sexy and feminine materials, which doesn't suddenly poke you in the eye with an underwire at the least opportune moments.

So I currently wear a 38DD which I highly suspect is the wrong size considering that I only have two bras and only one of them can be worn without pain. I'm guessing I'm more like a 36DDD or something like that, which I can't find. I have a hard enough time finding Playtex 18-hour bras in my current size. I live absolutely in the middle of nowhere. Where should I go to be sized? The closest city is Denver which is still 7 hours away. Are there any department stores that do sizing I can actually trust? I'm afraid to order online without knowing what size I am.

And yes, I would get a reduction in a heartbeat. I cried when I got my first bra at 11. ( I wanted to be a jockey.)

I think it's hit or miss at department stores. You'll always get the best service at Nordstroms.

For ease and convenience, I'd buy some full coverage sizes from zappos.com. The returns are free; you just need to drop them off at a UPS center, I believe. I've returned tons of shoes to them- their customer service is top-notch.

I got a fantastic Elomi bra for Christmas, but the cup size was too small. :( It was a 42F. Also, could I ever find a bra where the underwire doesn't come up way too far under my arms and jab me constantly? *Sigh*

I bought an expensive Elomi bra and loved the fit, but the underwire blew out in the front way too soon. I now own a few La Mystere Dream Tisha (lace) bras that give great shape and support, and come in larger cup sizes. They are pricey, but sometimes go on sale. Cacique has sexy bras, and I have bought quite a few, but they do not give as much support as I would like. I have two types of bras -- the ones that defy gravity, but are not that sexy, and the ones I wear when I hope they will be seen (and touched). I'm a 40 ddd (US).
