I LOVE HAIKUS! But for the sake of learning ..how do I write one?

What is Haiku? by: jthserra

The old 5-7-5 rule is actually an English bastardization of haiku.
jthserra has other excellent articles on the subject.

Hope this helps!

Oh, I don't like to use Wiki as a reference ever, but most of their info on haiku is actually pretty good.

crab-scuttling leaves
it blows away company
an empty night wind

Jazz Haiku 1

God’s breath on grass reeds
Sublime sounds weave awareness
Earth and air in dance

Jazz Haiku 2

Two hands seek heaven
Climb the ladder step by step
Fertile fields greet open ears

Pony tails and Barbies
Howling wind whispers them by
And then they are gone

From western Eyes, Ears, and Mind
Christian comforts, huckleberry pies
Damned by Dubious democracy

I wrote this forever ago..but I love Haiku

Into the unknown
I once fell; ah The Unknown,
I know it so well.

Wind blows over the hill,
The sun shines brightly overhead,
The sky, alive with clouds

Wind blows over the hill,
The sun shines brightly overhead,
The sky, alive with clouds

Yes: "The sky, alive with clouds..." "clouds" in Buddhist terms "our thoughts" covering the clear sky, "one's own true nature behind the clouds.... unchanging.....pure consciousness..... nice to get there now and then....

a lovely book

If u get the chance, see if u can get hold of the book: 'haiku mind' by Patricia Donegan (108 Poems to Cultivate Awareness & Open Your Heart)
she offers her thoughts on each haiku; it's a beautifull read.....
