Haiku

awesome haiku from Basho there MET. :)

i've been reading Buson:

A lightning flash-
the sound of water drops
falling through bamboo

With no underrobes,
bare butt suddenly exposed
a gust of spring wind

An evening cloudburst
sparrows cling desperately
to trembling bushes

Head pillowed on arm,
such affection for myself!
and this smoky moon

I think I like this Basho,
I have to say that I do like Ogden's haiku
so Basho and Ogden and even jthserra (decayed angel) :D
are some of my favorite haikus
I truely like the new haiku poets, wildsweetone and sex&death <grin
keep them coming

those quoted haiku were Buson, not Basho, MET.

have you read any of his (Buson)? i found another that i love!

Buson

dawn -
fish the cormorants haven't caught
swimming in the shadows

how cool is that?!

I stand/sit corrected

I love that poem... I see commarants on the river daily, they are like prehistoric when they fan their wings out and hold them there, well, now my muse is knocking on the inside of my skull cause I know there is a poem about that <bigrin... thanks wild

i've been reading Buson:

the four pillars of haiku: Basho, Buson, Issa and Shikki, Issa (my favorite) is the next pillar.

Basho and Buson seem quite different (from the little I've read). i haven't really looked at Issa yet, and haven't read anything of Shikki.

i would love to hunt out a book containing these masters. i'm open to recommendations if anyone has some to share.

and your haiku is stunning. thank you

it's been kind of gloomy outside this morning...

cool morning -
on the north side of the fence
silent crickets

grey day -
even the cherry leaves
hang to the ground

silent is the mist
covering the moon
..a snail crosses the path

on the river bank
