Chris suggested i try geocities after i tried everything else i had. seems to have worked okay.

It gives me a 999 error — which sounds pretty bad, as numbers go! :D

OK, after much learn-as-we-do-it, it's ready. Go here:

We Meet in Venice

And play the audio file.

Here is the text:

We Meet in Venice

Unreel yourself back in time to this masquerade with ice cream,
This drug and perfume map of our meeting,
Masked, in a back alley, your best taffeta frock lifted high
And my cock deep in your cunt, like the moon in the clouds.

The mouth of Tiziano has kissed each of these bridges, departing
The giant lotus for the woman who waits,
Unable to breathe for his absence, colouring in his soul
With her own colours until it tears her apart with impossible darkness.

She heals him with her angel blood, as so often before.
God kills her and takes her kindness, like one who always needs more love
To love eternally.

Don't worry WSO, if you win we'll just reclassify you as an Aussie! Hey, it's worked before — many times!

Well no problem then, I think I can help with that. :rose:

I'm going to try another recording tomorrow. Today I have to go out and buy some software to make it better.

If anyone's interested I did the recording on a Mac using Garageband, but I'd never used it before so I just pulled out a few things that were obvious from the software instruments and threw them in. I also used the mic that's built into the computer so it didn't come out too clearly. Anyone who has spent more than an hour on Garageband could do a lot better than I did.

You know, V, this was such a great idea — I'm convinced that people would like poetry a lot more if they could hear it being read. Adding the atmospherics just makes the reading stand out for people. I'm going to do a few more of these, to see where I can take it.

do you realise there is a category for audio poems on Lit?

Audio Poetry

it's very cool being able to add in the software instruments. what a huge addition it makes to a poem. i think you'd have to be careful that the sound effects did not overpower the words, use the words to give the impact and the sound to simply enhance - well, that's just my advice. :)

You are perfectly right — I did let the sound effects overpower and drown out the words. I was searching around for some way of fading the sound effects track towards the end and couldn't find it. Dammit I need a manual for this thing!

A big hello and thanks to the smarter Australopithecenes across the pond! :rose:

(By mistake I just wandered down to the off-topic members pictures thread and am now sufferering from shock  )

i didn't know Australians needed warning lol okay, consider yourself warned, what you see in there is pretty much anything and everything you can think of, and most likely a whole lot of stuff you never thought of in your life, (less some extremes that Lit does not allow).

you know there is a poetry section, well, there is a story section also, and of course, the photography sections. there are personals and chatrooms, toy stores, and more images. there are forums galore, going from a bulletin board, the General Board is (or was - it's been a while since i was there) a fairly fast paced place. there are role playing forums and non-English forums. and then there's Chyoo - i never quite figured out what happens there.

it took me a week (lots of hours) to find my way around the whole site before i understood it (i'd never been on bulletin boards like this before and it was mind boggling).

do you know you can personal message (PM) people?

if you want to know anything, or need help finding stuff, just shout and we'll help you out. :)

oh lord I think I will hook you up to the "Oh My Bod" **

OhMiBod, J from Seattle says
—no scratch that, he groans that
with your name pushed through
clenched teeth, spittle spraying
cos' it feels that good.

"Angel" thumps that long
and deep beat that Massive Attack
plays so smooth and you know
right where in that track that makes
the rhythm diffuse from cock
and centerlines his spine,

Yes, it's an orgasm in stereo.
It's the same time he christens
you JeezusGawd.

All this for $55.25 and gives it a 5,
mentally rates it 500 times that
cos' never has he felt closer to you
in those seconds; however fleeting
they were, they were still worth it.

Music is where you live and all
he has to do is push a button to be there.

Here is another poem from me, and it took me most of the day to improve my Garageband skills. The text is below and the recording can again be found

Here

Noir, the Distant Eden

Are we the ones the palace forgot, the edge dwellers
So high above the ground we seem to be balloonists who have become lost
Over Middle Europe? Below, the forests are seven nights
Without you, without the softness of your lips, and your legs,
And your hair touching my face. But we are promised something still:

Promised the candle the night has undressed and caresses softly,
And which burns in the palace garden, like night jasmine on your skin.

------------

Alas, I still had no microphone, so the voice is again too low in the mix, but hopefully it will work to some extent.

Thanks, yes the artwork is also mine. (Well except for the pics in the sound file boxes.)

BTW does hooking me up with "Oh My Bod" cost me stripperdollars or something?

Can't believe how long I've neglected this thread. Fantastic reads to all three of you, VD, WS1, and El. Mah man panties is damp.

(I didn't say that.)

Was wondering where you'd got to DD!

Moody introverted wannabe-artist phase I guess :D
I'm back-ish, strongly considering making an audio poem despite my fucking awful voice. (I swear someone requested a certain poem be made audio, think WS1 did the requesting.)

Shipping and handling is free, although a live feed or two or four is required upon delivery (have to make the travel to destination worth it).

Unfortunately this is kind of thing which makes me wish there were gender indicators next to the avatar (whattsupwithat anyway?). S&H free sounds good though.

DD — is that avatar of Christopher Lee, circa The Wicker Man?

i am reminded of the poem at the end of Night's in White Satin...

you're going to be deadly when you get a microphone.

do you need capitals for every line beginning, is that your preference?
