Heat

well someone told me what the temperatures here were today and appearantly it was 98. which is not that much compared to you all, but a lot for here. though actually, today felt fine for me. anyway, i went bouldering, and the wall felt still normal and didn't melt or anything.

Woo Hoo - we had a cold front yesterday ....it only got to 100 :D

;)
you're lucky you didn't get snow! :D

we're much cooler here since yesterday... yet, somehow, the electric still managed to go out for 40 minutes.

My dad has big wet pieces of cloth hung into the windows. appearantly that helps, when you don't have airconditioning.

it sure helps.

the original air conditioner, if i'm not mistaken, was actually a tray or block of ice in front of a fan. not too high tech but i would imagine it worked well back before they made itty bitty compressors.

well, either way, my trick is just to not do anything. mainly. except at work they don't seem to understand that.

SInce its cooled down in my neck of the woods......

something still seems a bit hot.....wink wink

This sounds a lot like what they use in some of the States where humidity isn't an issue.

They use these things called "Swamp Coolers" which basically is water or ice with a fan running behind it. They don't and wouldn't work work here or anywhere else with High Humidty but in the dry heat I believe they work pretty well.

We had a bit of a cold front come through here it is a bit cooler and less humid out but the problem now is there is no wind so the inside of the house is still hot even though I have a fan in the window. I'm tempted to turn on the AC because it's hot in here.

Sounds like an absolutely lovely idea *right now* and then go lay under the ceiling fan on my bed...
