Hi Ku Cat

Harry and butters: 11/11

Haven't posted in our journal for weeks,
not for want of thoughts.
run rampant before the mower,
drifting in dead clippings dust,
chivied by the wind,
'follow, follow.'
I run,

Tomorrow and tomorrow, oh hell,
midnight,
today, what shall I do, what's on the list,
perhaps I'll just watch these hills
perform their autumnal dance
but
I have to sleep first

..
And awaking find the day as chill as you left it,
hopeful in cheery devices to entice
escape from lethargy,
be productive, brides price to pay,
fire to lay in the hearth but not lit yet
though November pokes a frosty finger,
cold breath asks, ;are you ready for my embrace?'
yes, love me

This hair wont take the clip,
pissed me off, I'll just
brush the shit out of it
'til it acts right

Such a strange boy, the Mister,
fussing about, kicking up dust,
moving twigs n stones from here to there,
clucking about this waiting home.
The e-shrink says he's nest building,
I wouldn't be surprised,
he looks apt to lay an egg

There's still some floor to scrub,
you lazy git,
up off your arse and dressed
in something other than PJ's n combat boots,
what would the missus say at the sight you in disarray
more commonly found attiring drunks or bumz
and that hair, disgracefuly avant gard

the mister's keeping busy
the missus busy too
winter's breathing at the door
there's coffee on the brew

still wading through the red-sea tape
and offsprings' plans achange
and though the end is clear in sight
its distance seems to range

keep holding hands to get us through
some battles fought, some won
some conceded with regret
this year's too short, too long

we're worth the wait, the strain and ache
our poor hearts still beat on
the fire's tended carefully
and love is just as strong

we're kept alive on hopes and dreams
we know will come to pass
the prize all ours to lift aloft
and red tape can kiss our arse

:heart::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss:

The end is crystal clear,
like an image set in glass,
brought forth from a thought,
a little eye grease
and
Prayer

The Bradfords red gold glory,
set against the frozen sky,
burns in shivered hesitancy
to drop her gown unto the floor,
stand naked to the elements
bare to my eye

Her form stripped,
limbs exposed, every hidden niche,
sunlit perfection

December smiles hello,
none for me, I'd prefer her tears
slake the bottomlands thirst,
fill the pond

be careful what you wish for
december's soft heart can fill a pond
and reservoirs replenish
but should she be called
by darker reveries
with steep sided slopes
who knows when the tears will cease to fall?

Ma'am's up, doing her regular stuff
cats a-prowl, giving me the eye
I'm somewhere in a jungle
peeking through an olive green bush
..
There is a little iron in the day, enough to fill the heart of two.

when cold enough
iron can ring true
as any crystal glass
and covered in winter's frozen breath
glitter just as prettily

jungle cat
peers through olive drabs
memories of stealth and pounce
f.b.g's and electronic warfare
layers of shed months and pine needles
under paw
that shift and glitter with silvered sparks
releasing scents of woodland, firing neurons,
and the undercurrent miasma
of winter's deep wait

Out the kitchen window
a multitude of robins
dances 'cross the treetops
showered by the weight
of rain dripping from the sky

a multitude of robins *claps*

a multitude of robins
a busy vision of grey/brown/red
seasonally rounded bodies and brightness
twig legs
bob and flutter
like feathered baubles
self-trimming the trees
carols on the wing
bringing colour to a damp, dull world

Love the snowman av wit teh bird perching on a carrot nose
bet the parsnips are ready to dig

..
yes it is, great hat too :kiss:
..
oh yeah, I'm sure, had some good ones, what do I do, chop them up and put in the soup?

parsnip soup, roast parsnips, mashed parsnips, added to a winter stew (but don't leave overnight as the sugary taste seems to skyrocket and spoils the savoury)... i really love roasted parsnips

.. whats the proper way to roast a parsnip?

.. whats the proper way to roast a parsnip?

no idea what's considered 'proper'
at least
when it comes to parsnips
but i select the young and firm
take them from their chilly bed
wash them tenderly
leaving skins intact
neaten tops and bottoms
slide the knife lovingly
to create twins of those a little larger than their brethren
then
opening the oven door
bring out the roasting meat
hot fat bubbling and jumping in the pan
add the little darlings and bathe them in the goodness
sprinkle a little snow of salt
maybe a little rosemary
and tuck them all back in the oven's heat
to soak and crisp and become the epitome of yumminess
