I am pretty sure if high heel fashion was solely based on men's preference, it would have died out a long time ago. It was actually a fashion practice that started with the male gender, but then reverted to ladies taking it over.

My ex-wife loved her high heels and would often choose to buy and wear them without me ever being in the conversation about it. She loved being taller. She loved how it lengthened and formed her legs while wearing them. And she loved the feeling of femineity when in public wearing them. She just flat out loves high heeled shoes and boots. In fact, she went to one shoe store so often, one day the manager there asked her, "seeing as how you love shoes so much, why don't you work here". She never did, she was a mother of four after all, but SHE loves her high heels.
