I don't remember putting anything in bold. Beats me why it's there.
But yeah, I sorta see what you mean. Like how some rapists or serial killers sometimes believe that their victims should be "honoured" of sorts by their actions or that they were predestined to be killed/raped/tortured/etc. Or that the whole issue with locking them up was just to keep them from leaving - and not as a form of torture in itself. Am I somewhere on the right track with that?
The point I had made earlier though was that, (and I'll try to clarify) because the girl showed no obviously physical signs of violence that doesn't mean that their wasn't any emotional abuse and whatnot. But back to what you said, I think you could be right in that it is entirely possible that this individual wasn't so much motiviated by malice as he was simply motivated by an incredibly deep desire to be with this girl and kept her locked up as a means not to control her as much as a means to keep her close because he feared her leaving.
But yeah, when all is said and done, I think any adult of sound mind and reasonable judgement would never had done this. I just think selfishness took the best of him. And really, I think that's the main point. Maybe he wasn't as sadistic as some would argue. Maybe he DID care a lot about her and felt he had to do what he did to keep her for himself. In any case, I guess that's selfness above anything else.
Oh, and thanks for replying,
You know,

Like how MorfeuV would.
