How did this story get approved?

no, it doesn't have to, that's a fact. However, it would still be the wisest option, in spite of the protestations of a few control freaks who can't handle the idea of people disagreeing with them.

Like most publishers, Lit has house rules - even though they are pretty liberal. It is not a question of free speech, just a question of target audience and marketing. The cost of free hosting a bunch of dirty stories has to be recouped in advertising and the brand protected. Extreme non-consensual violence is not part of the brand.

Here, on this forum, there is no moderation and you are free say what you will. The 'offending' story could be posted without censorship.

Seems the author is more streetwise than some posters here.

I'm sure that's true, though to be honest this site is so filled with stories that I doubt this one in particular would ever see the light of day again once it fell into the cracks anyway :)

If the material is such that would get legal attention focused on them (like the underage sex things), most writers to this site are quite happy that they draw the lines--as is their privilege as owners of the site.

You going to carry that chip on your shoulder very much longer?

LOL I have no chip at all. Underage is one thing, non consent is quite another, particularly when it's clearly fictional.

What you perceive as a "chip" is merely the fact that I choose not to be cowed like most Americans are with their little obsession about "follow the rules! Conform!"

But yet incest is part of the brand. Go figure.

Be real; incest on this site makes Walt Disney cartoons seem like Marcel Proust. It is an escape for second-rate writers who struggle to get their characters into bed and use unrealistic scenarios to get stroke stories posted.

I don't read them, but I'm amazed at how popular they are. How do they manage to garner the attention and votes?

While I'd agree that this site is filled with second and third rate writers, I'm not sure incest is necessarily their "escape". I do, however, agree that most of the scenarios seem contrived and unlikely at best. For me, I only write about genuine personal experiences, because I see no point in making it up. It's almost a bit cathartic and therapeutic to get it out there, but hey, maybe I'm a freak since I don't write with the aim of giving somebody a stroke story specifically :)

The forum not being moderated has nothing to do really with the limitations on material the Web site permits to be published on this Web site. A story is no less published and of interest in legal terms on the forum as it is in the story file.

Posting a story here on the forum that the site editors wouldn't pass for the story file is just circumventing the Web site posting parameters.

And hey, if the site owners are fine with that, why bitch? Oh, right, I forget: some people are just rules lawyers who want everyone to sit down, shut up and conform :p

That sounds like a good idea for you to follow about now.

As L-5 posted, the web site folks don't have time to monitor this forum--they are busy trying to get the stories up as quickly as possible of people who are respecting the service the Web site is providing by not thinking themselves so special that they can jump the queue and post as they please regardless of the guidance provided.

Guess some folks are just more polite and less ego-centric, "memememe," and pushy than others. :)

I think now that won't bother to read your story. I think I know the attitude it will project.

I agree, though I haven't read very many so I cannot speak for the whole genre like that.

I don't read them, but I'm amazed at how popular they are. How do they manage to garner the attention and votes?
There's something really sick going on in America where such stories are popular. (Again I must insert the "but it's free speech" disclaimer.)

That sounds like a good idea for you to follow about now.
Why?

LOL of course, always the simplistic view that attempts to put yourself on the moral "high ground". There's no pushiness going on, the simple truth is that what I've said regarding this fellow's story is simply this: leave it be, and let the *audience* decide its fate. If they hate it and shout it down, then so be it, but there's no need for a dose of control freakishness.

Simple and logical. Unfortunately you're arguing with someone who just likes to go postal on people he disagrees with for the hell of it... it's a hormonal thing. You can't beat it with words.

Ah, then I'll just back away slowly and not taunt the bear :)

I encountered the match of the instance here, I think, when I was driving to a book event of the Virginia Festival of the book this afternoon. I approach the stop sign at a side road intersecting with a busier road. The side road continues across the intersection, and I am driving across and continuing on that side road. Quite a bit of traffic on the main road as I patiently wait at the stop sign. Quite a long time after I stopped at the sign, a car approaches and stops at the sign across the intersection from me. The traffic clears, and I start to take my right of way across the intersection. The car facing me, without giving a turning signal, zips out and turns left across in front of me, the driver giving me the finger because I had asserted my right of way.

In neither that case nor this one do I think I'm the one exhibiting the boorish behavior.

And (*grin*) if you are taking advice from Le Jacquelope on who goes postal on this forum, you certainly haven't read the forum much--or bothered to look at the image on his signature line.)

Hey, I'm not interested in picking fights or taking sides with anyone. My interest is solely in writing lame ass stories that happen to be true, asking for a little feedback, and occasionally pointing out the sameness of Democrats and Republicans for the hardcore who like to pretend that one is a hero and the other a villain (they're both villains, btw).

Aside from that, I'm looking at a "live and let live" perspective, hence my view on this thread's topic remains: let nature take its course.

Yet you still fail to realize that the author has already informed us the story has been pulled for editing.

Here it is again.

The story has been flipped back to me, so I guess they listened to you guys. Fair enough. I've edited to take out the hard stuff and I've also changed the category to Non Consent. Trivial point but a new title too!

Hope we're cool now.

So I guess your whole "live and let live perspective" is a moot point now? Yeah, thought so.

Not at all. I never once failed to realize that. I didn't comment on it, but I still realized it. You're merely arguing for the sake of arguing, since your post offered nothing of value or significance.

Thanks, though.

You said it dude.

Almost everyone, including the author, is fine with the resolution here except you. I wonder what that says about you?

Funny, did I ever say I wasn't satisfied with what he did? Hmm...I don't seem to find that anywhere in here...

You assume a lot, don't you?

You aren't worth it.

Perhaps his/her beef is that you guys called for the story to be completely pulled off of Lit? And that he had to edit out the "hard stuff", which is a total insult to artistic integrity and freedom concerning works that are not illegal?

I know I would be putting my foot up someone's ass if they tried to coerce or shame or bully me into editing the "hard stuff" out of my story, and boy howdy I have far HARDER stuff than what y'all said was in that story, coming up at sites like Eka's Portal. I may bring it here when I'm done, just to put up a challenge to this bullshit.

Once again, I'll reiterate... the point is NOT just that story, or hobrigef. It's whether or not Literotica is the FREE SPEECH site it claims to be. I can understand kicking off underaged crap because pedo crap is illegal. But what was said of hobrigef's story, didn't sound illegal to me. If it was, then please let me know.

Why was there ANY hubbub about material that, as far as I know, was legal?

Bah. I know this is going way over the heads of the same people who would raise hell if their artistic freedom were challenged. It's okay when it's the designated nizzle and it's a great victory when the designated nizzle backs down and "tones down" his work. It won't be okay when butcher Pete takes a whack at your work... damn, people are stupid.

It sounds like someone needs to put up a Web site of his own and stop freeloading on this one.
