I pick my stories based more on mood than anything else. Sometimes I read the hot ones. Sometimes I go to the New ones and see what strikes me. It all depends really.
I usually go to 'top lists' & then pick my category. Though sometimes when I go to the stories that were not ranked as high, those are usually pretty good to my taste moreso than the topped ranked ones. So sometimes it'll also depend on the title, & the brief description as well. I'll usually stay w/in my chosen category though.
I usually pick by categories, but I get really frustrated by them, because my fave thing is gay sci-fi/fantasy but there's no way to search for that. I prefer archives with a content tag system.
Yep, I definitely read the stories! Great fun, I have to laugh at how 'creative' I once thought I was and realize my 'ideas' are, in fact, all too commonplace.
I'm new to Lit, but have offered three stories that I've written a while back, I hope they get accepted.
And, I choose by category -- and then scoll and, using firefox, I tab about eight titles that look interesting, then read them to see if I find them appealing!
It's all been great fun and I think there are a lot of generous creative writers posting ideas. And, laughing at myself when I am shocked at some suggestion in a story and laughing also when I find something stimulating that I'd never considered before.
I choose based on my mood, my favorite authors, their favorite authors, and recommendations from other readers. I also frequent the 'new' list looking for fresh talent.
