How many of us have actually been rejected for AI reasons?

Same thing here, but that doesn't mean I should just say that I don't give a fuck. I am not saying that's your attitude of course, just saying in general, because AH people do show some remarkable indifference towards problems that don't affect them personally.
I don't think people are indifferent. It's just that there are only so many times we can say, "That sucks, but no-one here can do more than offer the vaguest of unsupported guesses" before it becomes trite.

The fact is that some people have a style that triggers some AI flag, whether that's an automated detector or Laurel's personal AI-dar. All of our helpful suggestions during the past twelve months have been of zero use, as far as I can tell.

And there have been plenty of helpful suggestions, from just about all the AH regulars. From tips on style to offers to beta read to advice on what software to use and how much. I started a thread with tips so that writers who are less secure about their spelling and grammar wouldn't have to rely on programs like Grammarly.

And like I said, I don't think any of all that has had the slightest effect. Some people's style just doesn't pass the test.

I definitely care.
The AI review system is still fairly new and therefore fraught with errors. It's causing a lot of pain and continued exposure will help with that. I also know that I have personally reached out to a handful of complainants with concrete suggestions and advice on what to do(with specific examples). Perhaps I just chose to try and help the wrong people, but the response I got, across the board, was; "That's my style and I'm not changing it." You see the problem...

AI is a style issue, and if you're that married to your 'style' then the problem is you. Personally, my style changes and grows all the time. I go back and re-read older stuff and am blown away that 'my style' got approved, mostly for extremely bad grammar. Things like comma splices, run on sentences, paragraphs a page long, etc.

I'm a better writer now that I was five years ago because I'm not married to 'my style.'

The best solution is going to be a middle ground. AI verification helps validate all our work and is currently a necessary "evil," if you will. My opinion continues to be, if you're getting repeated rejections, use it as a learning experience and take a hard look at 'your style' to see if there are opportunities for improvement. Rinse, repeat.

Above all, please keep writing.

I don't think saturation with the topic is the cause. Even at the very start, some people wanted to help but many were indifferent, and some even had disparaging comments about the quality of stories that get flagged. As if the same can't be said about the average Lit story that does get through the moderation.

I probably worded my initial sentiment poorly. I have no issue with changing my writing style at all. In fact, just like you, my style has evolved over time. My very first story was so badly written that when I went back to read it later, I laughed at how poorly written it was. I even went as far as rewriting it with the help of an editor and created a much better new version of it.

My problem is changing your style not based on the story you are currently writing or your personal experience and growth as an author, but merely to please an AI algorithm.

I've done the same thing to several of my early stories. It helps to be able to laugh at oneself. 🫂

As for AI -vs- style, we don't have much of a choice. It's sad but true. We don't control the AI screens. We do control our writing style. 🤷‍♀️

How many of us have actually been rejected for AI reasons? This thread is not meant to be another discussion of what causes such rejections. It's just a count. When it dies down I'll post the totals. I, myself, have not been rejected, but most of my stories were published before the furor appeared.
I've had two stories rejected as AI so far. The first one, I resubmitted with an author note and it was then approved. I'm hoping the same happens for the story that was just rejected this week.

Could you give us the names of the stories? Do you have any idea which parts were a problem?

I had my first 3 stories for my series accepted and published no problem. My 4th installment has been rejected 2x so far currently trying to rewrite it and using ai detectors to check as I go. Only issue is there's no consistency one might say 8% ai and the next 80% ai. One thing I'm noticing is that any descriptive words you use seems to increase the detection.

To be honest is my next one is rejected after the rewrite I'm giving up. I don't spend hour after hour writing and proofreading my work only to have it rejected for AI.

I submitted the first two chapters of a story with no problem, but was accused of using AI with the third. I did nothing different from the first two chapters (or from another story that was accepted last December). After I rewrote the third chapter and even changed the story dramatically, I can't even get rejected. It's been sitting in my pending folder for weeks.

I thought writing for Lit would be an opportunity to have a bit of fun sharing some stories I wouldn't include in my books. My works have been well received by readers here (except for the Loving Wives trolls, but that's to be expected), but any enjoyment I got out of sharing has been gutted by this. It's simply not worth spending dozens of hours writing and editing something I'm not even being paid for just to have it rejected for something I didn't do.

Same here. Parts 1, 2 and 3 went through no problem then bam rejected for part 4. I even gave it a partial rewrite still no luck. I've even went as far as using a AI detector to see what parts stand out but they're useless some will say 0% and another will say 100% when really they dont have a clue. I'm rewriting the whole of my part 4 but if it gets rejected again I'm done with Literotica. This one story has probably taken me 100 hours now just to write, edit, rewrite and rewrite and edit again.

Could you post 3 or 4 paras from chapter 3 and from chapter 4?

Thankfully, I've never been rejected for AI (not even AI would come up with as many references to big cocks and big muscles as I do!), but if I was experiencing what you have been experiencing, I think I would have a very similar response. It's very disheartening, and I certainly feel for you here. We all spend a lot of time on our stories, and to have them bounced like this is very unfortunate...

Not even been rejected but more likely ignored,my first story took only 2 days from pending to published , removed my 2nd chapter after being on pended for 3 weeks. Got 2 drafts open now, but not sure to even continue.

If they're still drafts, you're the one holding them back. If you don't submit them, there's little point complaining.

Stories don't get ignored, but they do sometimes fall through a crack. But if they're still drafts...

All stories go onto a conveyor belt, they go through the same process. Don't personalise it by saying you're being ignored, just submit your stories and get in the queue. Just like every other author who gets their stories published.

Status was pending for over 3 weeks, made it return to drafts again on my own choice. Had the fun of putting my imagination to “virtual” paper and hoped to share that imagination to others, but as it seems it stops at the prologue.

Add me to your list. Part 2 of a story I submitted and got published last week was rejected today because they think it's AI. Grumble......grumble.

I had two stories rejected, one of them just once, and the other two or three times. These were parts 2 and 3 in a series. Part 4 sailed through fine.

I've now rewritten the first three parts as they were pretty shit. Don't blame Laurel for rejecting them.

The prologue for my series got rejected 5-6 times for "being mostly written by AI" or however that message goes, don't quite remember anymore. I got pretty demoralized and decided to try one more time and then give up if it got rejected again, then it took! I have had no further problems with the other chapters in my series, they tend to get approved with 3-4 hours now and go live with 48 hours.

The only other story I had the same issue with was my entry for the Summer Lovin Contest, but some applying some helpful advice a user shared with me got it through.

I do have a question about pics though, I've updated the pic on my series page and it's still pending after 5 days. I remember the original pic taking a while too. I suppose the priority of pics are much lower? It would make sense, considering all the actual literature being posted daily.
