How much reality is in the stories?

Lucky you Keroin,

As for comment about putting you work up for discussion and suggestion harks me back to 1977, I went to a Science Fiction Writers Conference where in from of an audience of over a hundred people six people had their stories critiqued. The pannel of 5 was made up of a story editor for a Sci-5 Magazine (who feels my body of work is not exactly what they do,) and four others working on their Masters in English. To say the least it was torture.

All but two of these people were mecerlessly ripped to pieces. One girl left the room crying. A friend who works as an Editor (for the same magazine,) said, "don't worry she comes back every time." The winner, was, well, a winner in more ways than one. Story not too bad, but he had personality, intelligence, and was the kind of cutie groupies would have wet dreams over for a very long time.

So do I want to endure such public torture NO!

I work hard to get where I am, I write whenever I have the time and am modivated. Not everybody can write a page a day. I just do what I feels is right.

Yes we buff he situations up. But hey, 15 years ago, I had a Mistress who made me cum seven times in one day. Thank goodness I was young healthy and cancer free, I healed quickly.

But Hemingway always took the time, to discribe quickly, even the smell of the place. That's my hint at reality and good writing.

No luck involved, actually. Hard work, a desire to learn and improve, some natural talent, refusal to quit in the face of ridiculously low odds of success, and a willingness to put myself out there and be torn mercilessly to shreds? Yes. Luck? No.

BTW, the folks who participate in the Story Discussion Circle here are quite kind and helpful, but also honest, which is necessary.

Gun to my head, bubblegum. Please find a way to work cookie dough into the sequel so this becomes an easier question (your fans demand it).

Well, if fans "demand" it, fine. (Sure take advantage of my highly-compartmentalized submissiveness, see if I care. Brute.)

Alright I'll give it a shot, but I do work at this.

... My question - how much of what is in the stories is based in reality? Most of the subs in the stories are all in their early twenties, perfect bodies, open for anything, etc. The Doms are all seem to be well off, handsome, and perfect. I know this can't be reality. Stories of ten subs meeting at an airport, flying off on a private plane for a weekend adventure, etc, etc, can't be the norm. I know D/s relationships exist in real life from reading the threads here. How rare is a real 24/7 relationship? Are weekend 'games' more common?

Sorry got side tracked by the hotties...

24/7 Reality? Shopping at Wal-Mart and Home Depot. Taking the kids to school, hauling ass to work for an 8, 9, 10 hour or longer shift. Get home to watch an episode or two of a TV show. Dinner, a drink or two, maybe some cuddling and snuggling, if you're lucky you get enough privacy and have enough energy for a little play and some sex with your partner.

Reality is paying bills and going to the doctor and worrying about what to do with your aging parents, and balancing YOUR needs and desires with the needs and desires of those who depend on you. Reality is responsibility and work, and working to find the time to play. 24/7 Master/slave or Dominant/submissive dynamics exist, but trying to model your relationship on online cyber-wanking fantasy/erotica is kinda like trying to have porn star sex 24/7. It just doesn't work that way.

Period.

If you want a 24/7 M/s dynamic or D/s dynamic, you get your relationship right FIRST. THEN you can worry about adding the kinky stuff. There are education and support groups for BDSM, M/s Leather and other alternative lifestyles. Get out there and join one and start learning from real people, in real life, in real situations. Google is your friend. Use it.

And good luck!

Excellent point, you hit it right on the head. I mean don't forget also lots of people in the scene also have self confidence issues. My Mistress was threatening to cut me off if I didn't loose weight, and then she gained ten pounds that took he forever to loose.

On the other hand this is about writing, and I want to point out one that, well makes me feel castrated. I mean this is good: http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=186444 almost the same journey as mine, but with great interactions and characters.

Click on my name you'll find the work. Simple don't need all sorts of fancy stuff

Have to add my tuppence worth...

I can't speak for anyone else, but most of my stories are real in that they include situations which I have experienced, or which someone close to me has. Of course normally the plot is made up - this is FICTION - but the incidents which it ties together are real.

Most of my stories, that is. A few, maybe four or five, are pure fantasy, though they're always set in real places which I know. I invite anyone to workout which ones come into this category...

But don't look for manicured lawns or island jetsetting. I find the real everyday world fascinating, and don't need that sort of fantasy. Chacun a son gout.

George Orwell wrote something (in Keep The Aspidistra Flying) about the way that real life can crush creativity. I think it was Phillip Larkin who wrote about the pram in the hall being the death of poetry.

I reckon real life can be the death of erotica. That's why it's tempting to try and take erotic things that have happened in real life and set them in an environment where real life doesn;t intrude. (See First Weekend for an example.)

But real life can also enable moments when BDSM breaks through, and I try to write about that as well. I don't think I'd be able to write any of this if it wasn't part of my life experience.

If it doesn't seem real, blame my writing, not my experience. Sometimes the pleasure of experience remembered can be hard to squeeze into words.
