There is something hypnotic about an older man who is confident and cocky. My SO is 17 yrs older and I love it! Daddy rp is the best. I like my men 30-55. Any older they better be cool with taking some blue pills to keep up with me lol

Shreddies Fan

Nuts and Bolts is basically Chex Mix - although I use Crispix, as Chex are hard to come by in Canada. We didn't have them here for over 2 decades.

I never make them the same way twice. That's the fun.

In my oven roaster, I add some Shreddies, Cheerios, Crispix, Pretzels, Peanuts, Cheese Bits / Nips and stir them up. I sprinkle garlic powder / salt on them.

Then I melt half a cup of margarine mixed with Worcestshire sauce in the microwave. You want that mix to be brown. You can also add the garlic here instead of putting it on top of the dry ingredients, if you like.

Pour it over the dry ingredients, cover and bake at about 300 for 10 minutes or so. Then uncover and bake another 10 minutes or so. Seal them in a jar and you'll find the older they get, the nicer they get. Every batch will be a bit different.

There are variations (I usually use both types of Cheese Bits / Nips) and you can use generic versions of Cheerios, Shreddies, etc. Sometimes I add a pinch of Onion salt in the liquid ingredients. I make a batch without the peanuts for a few friends with allergies. I find it also takes a bit of time and effort to get the taste you want.

Sound's like a recipe I'd enjoy. I get my Shreddies fix a couple of times a year when I visit London, UK. I'm usually there for a couple of weeks and have them for breakfast every day. I cannot get them in the Houston area except through the "British Store" in our trendy Village stores where they want $10 a box. Obviously, they are available in Ontario. Maybe a trip to Canada is in order.

Guilty on both counts - over 55 and have been known to use the blue pill. With Mr. V, "I ain't finished until you are finished or exhausted."

Shreddies are available in most stores across Canada. They are made here by a company called Nabisco. There have been a few variants too, including versions that weren't square. Only the honey version lasted.

Hello Nrse, April (if you are lurking) and everybody else young and not so. Boy, did I have me a day today....*whew* ...glad to be home where I can relax in private...:)

Hello to you NRSE, you sexy and sassy blonde.

I am home (have been for a while) after having had a much better visit with my dad. He is once again cognizant of his surroundings and while still not eating enough, he is eating and drinking a bit.

BrettJ that is great news. I continue to pray for his speedy recovery. Always good to see you :)

Evening Engineer.Hard day at work? Hope you can manage some rest this evening.

SBroad raining here as well. And the forecast looks like rain for the next several days. What the heck has happened to our abundance of sunshine this time of year?

It rained here most of (late) last night here NRSE and early this morning but by mid-day, turned gorgeous, sunny and warm. It's now cooled off again.

Went back over to the hospital again around 7 PM, as it's only a block away. He's still better and looked even better than this afternoon, so we will keep hoping for improvements.

All your sunshine is piled up in Texas. We could certainly use a little of your rainfall.

I don't know, honey, but I've about written this season off as a bad one. My big (only, really) outdoor activity is fishing, and it's been messed up since early Spring. Now, down here we're having a mosquito epidemic, thanks to all the standing water.

Didn't even start on the rod. Figured I'd quickly replace the heating element in my range, which got fried in an electrical storm last week (another weather related thing). Well, it was more of a job than I thought! Just finished. Didn't get fried, but did feel the 220V tingle! Had to finally pull it out from the wall (it's big, 6 burners, two ovens, so that was a job). Now, I'm not gonna mess with anything else tonight.

Nrse, wonderful to see you. It's hard to get any rest these nights...almost 2X as hard as it used to be... :)

Ahhh the joys of simple integration. Only we math nerds could fully appreciate it. Insomnia? Noisy neighbors ? More thumping noises ? I like to " meditate" on my sofa when I can't sleep. :)

Sleep has been an issue with me for years, to the point where I was tested for sleep apnea (I don't have it). I rarely slept more than 4 hours straight and it finally was down to 90 minutes. I can fall asleep, I just never stayed asleep. A few tries with different meds solved it.

Not a math nerd - English nerd here.

Be glad you don't have sleep apnea. It sucks. I was diagnosed with it a couple of years ago, got the CPAP. Now, if I ever get to sleep, I sleep well, but going to sleep with the stupid mask on is pretty hard.

That's what I always thought - how do you learn to sleep with that darned thing on? I sleep on my side and it would be a logistics nightmare. You have my sympathies.

I can honestly say I haven't. But I have a 70yo friend I'm always giving extra hugs too. His drive is high. He woke his wife up on his 69th birthday "Honey - I'm 69 now. Guess what I want?" lol
