If you ... ___ ... You might be an AHer

If there are multiple subjects which you will react to by saying "Aaand drink." you might be an AHer.

If this thread offended you its because you see yourself in it and don't like being called out which also means you might be an Aher
But more likely just a thin skinned, dish it out but can't take it type.

This thread is one part a look in the mirror, one part tongue in cheek, and one part over the top. But it shouldn't offend or trigger anyone. Have some class and take it all in stride, or even better, add to it. I don't think anyone here can say that they didn't see a part of themselves in these posts.

If you sometimes sit back and watch other posters ping pong each other into bloody stumps ... you might be an AHer.

Alright, enough, stop pounding me on the head for little flaws, geez Louise. I'm an AHer we all know it.

If you're a senior citizen, and smut writer, who tries to represent themselves as a high brow authority on proper English, and proper behavior, on a porn forum, you might be an AHer.

If you often inject cutsie little quips and images that have nothing to do with the thread topic, you might be an AHer.

What's grammatical-voice-bait?
You know what grammatical voice is?

And you know how we see discussions about it on a near weekly basis?

(Often people will label it a matter of "point of view" rather than "grammatical voice.")

Whatever it is that (more or less deliberately) starts those discussions, that's the bait. Sometimes it's naked: The thread title or the OP question. Other times it finds its way in to an unrelated discussion.

No, don't know what "grammatical voice" is. Could Google it, but I prefer talking to people like yourself.

OK.... so threads about POV (that, I do understand) are bait for what???? I like talking about POV issues.

If, upon getting negative reactions to your stories, the only explanation you will not entertain is that the reactions have anything at all to do with your stories...

Grammatical voice is active vs passive; Jack cooked dinner.(active) Dinner was cooked by Jack.(passive)
POV is first, second, or third person; I did it, you did it, Jack did it.

If you post long lectures in response to every writing question, especially after the question has been answered by another commenter or two (or seven), because you must be  seen, you might be an AHer.

If you've encountered and interacted with one JackHole in the forum, you might be an Aher

Sure, it is. Passive-Agressive voice a broken glass.

A broken glass? No, no, I’ll clean it up. I know how busy you are doing... nothing. Oh, don't worry about it. I didn't actually like that glass anyway, you know. It was just a gift from my mother. No, I said, it’s totally fine. I’ll just add it to the list of things that get broken around here. Not by me, mind you.

For getting other people to talk about it.

I wouldn't call a thread which is plainly about it "bait," bait when a tangent is introduced to a thread which isn't about the tangential subject.

Ahh, yes, thanks. I was wrong. Grammatical person is what I was talking about. 1°, 2°, 3° person.

POV is first, second, or third person; I did it, you did it, Jack did it.
I like to keep really clear about the difference between the grammatical matter of person versus the narrative matter of POV. A particular POV could be expressed in more than one grammatical person, and a particular grammatical person can express more than one narrative POV.

The sentence "I know Jack did it" is a first-person statement about a third person. The POV depends on whether the primary event being conveyed is about me knowing or about Jack doing. A whole story about someone can be told by someone else, without the POV being equivocal.
