Internet site copying a lot of our stories:

Yay for Laurel - the stories are down!

I guess Chantal must have just started deleting things at the last minute, but she wasn't fast enough - her sites have been suspended.

I bet she'll take copyright issues a little more seriously next time she's asked to remove some stories ;)

I hope getting the search engine up and running again is next on Literotica's todo list now that Chantal's website has been dealt with.:D

The search engine was turned on yesterday (Wednesday), in the early morning, and has been working all day to my knowledge. If you try it and it is not, please let me know. :)

Unless we had published the stolen stories for money or were planning to, then we'd get minimal damages for mental anguish that wouldn't even cover our costs.
The theory is that if you get damages, you also get (reasonable) costs.

Would someone try this link--especially someone who's been there before: It still works for me [Thurs morn, 9 am EST]. Try clicking on one of the first five stories.

http://chantals.allsexpages.com/incest2.html

Also try google (use the quotes) "a child is born" family adventure

(the last phrase is to eliminate most Christmas stories) and get to the porn story.

Also try google "a mother's new love for her son"

-- that works too, for me.

True, but often it's _partial_ costs. I lost a small case recently with a bank, and they had a lawyer, in there, prepped, for half a day of trial, which did occur. Award of 'costs'--$500.

However, even if you got full costs, that hurts them but does not benefit you (compared to doing nothing); essentially the lawyer's bills already paid (or due) are re imbursed, or mostly re-imbursed to you.

So, with minimal damage-- say your story is worth $200, and $20,000 in legal bills, you end up--assuming _full_ costs-- with $200.

Hi Alex,
This is very odd. I clicked on the link in your message and it worked. 10:20 am EST. Could it be that I have 'cookies' that enable this? Have you been there before (page 2 of incest).
Any techies know the answer?

I appreciate all you've done on this project.

Best,
J.

It might be the cookies..

...because I always delete them before I log off. I use Opera, and it's a 2-click action. Okay, call me paranoid...

I tried the link again myself, and got a blank screen. Dropping the "/incest2.html" and trying again got me the 'suspended' message.

Using Google and searching on the suggested extract ( "a mother's new love for her son" ) got me two links to the page, but each resulted in the 'suspended' message. However, it also brought up an alternative site, http://stories.fasthost.tv/incest2.html, where Chantal tells us (in somewhat broken English) "Sorry all the by abuse illegal publicist stories in this group are deleted. To save the hole web site from a quick and painful end !!! "

She goes on to say that she is now looking for legal stories. Which is what she should have done in the first place!

I, too, would like to commend Laurel on her tenacious defence of the site.

Alex

Sometimes I have to clear my internet cache (temporary internet files) in order to get a page that I previously visited to refresh itself.

In Internet Explorer, click Tools->Internet Options->Delete Files on the General tab.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi PG,

Thanks. I do know how to delete my cookies. Then I would have no access to Chantal's last stolen stories. Sort of like the 3 year old that 'hides' from mom by covering his own eyes!

My concerns are two: Are there a few thousand out there with similar access (based on _their_ cookies).

Is Chantal's whole story operation simply cut off temporarily, through disabling one link (with the whole database ready to go)--- so that she only awaits another link to put her booty on the market again?

Anyone who viewed her pages before they were removed, will have copies of them stored in their internet cache (cache is very different from cookies!). But they will only have copies of the pages that they have actually already viewed, so unless they read a story before it was removed, they cannot read it now.

I'm sure Chantal has the html for her web pages saved on her computer somewhere, so the content of her web pages still exists.

However, since all three of her bandwidth providers (the people allowing her page to be seen on the internet) have removed her pages, she will have to find a different host (or convince her old hosts to give her a second chance).

If she wanted to, she could simply obtain bandwidth from another host, and put the stolen stories up again - but then she would face a repeat of this experience with her new host. My guess is that when she gets her pages up again, she will be a lot more careful about violating copyright. :)
