Is it ASL you’re learning? Or another language’s sign? If it is asl, “dog” is a pat of your leg and a snap like this.

I love the grammar of sign too! So much happens in the face which you don’t realize until you start really learning it. People often go into it thinking it’s all making your hands make words, but sign is a whole lot more!

I’m learning Finnish SL. Dog in FinSL is just the pat on your leg.

What I’m finding challenging is coordinating everything. You have to remember what to do with your hands, in which direction to sign, which area of the “signing space” (no clue what the terminology is in English…) to use, where to look, what to do with your face and body… It’s a lot to take into consideration when you also have to try to remember to sign in the right word order and rhythm.

It’s been a really cool challenge to take on as a new language. Loving it!

I have a friend that I can sign with and last week we had our first (very) little conversation in vids signing. She asked me some really basic things about me, my family and friends and I was able to understand her questions and answer, and then understand her answers too. Felt like a major victory, considering I’ve only had 3 classes so far.

Boris Johnson came to Sweden to sign a security pact with our prime minister Magdalena Andersson.
He was invited to the prime ministers summer residence Harpsund and as tradition bids they took a ride in the famous boat Harpsundsekan - a flat bottomed wooden rowing boat.

Promptly a totally idiotic debate started about how unfeminist it is that Magdalena Andersson didn’t take the oars.
Sometimes I just want to bang my head against something over the level of debate.
I guess we will go on to be upset about how she lets male visitors hold doors for her or something like that next.
I wonder what our dear debators make of the pictures from the 60s of prime minister Tage Erlander letting Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev row.

The one wearing the leather jacket is likely the Finnish PM Sanna Marin. She visited Sweden some time ago and held a press conference with PM Magdalena Andersson wearing the jacket, and people mostly just talked about the jacket afterwards.

We have an R&R day coming at work, and one thing we have to that everyone has to send two pictures to the organizer - one that depicts you or something that's important to you and one that depicts something that you think would surprise others about you. Then the organizer shows the pics and everyone has to guess whose pics they are. And then the person has to explain the pics.

Everything I've come up with is mean, stupid, shocking and not in the least work appropriate. I'm absolute trash. Maybe that would surprise others?

I still have lots of time. Maybe I'll surprise myself and come up with something decent. I'm probably overthinking this. I hate this kind of things.

We did something similar at a place I once worked. We had to submit a childhood photo and a fun fact about ourselves.
I really don’t care for these ‘team building’ exercises.
