Hang on… If you know about it, does that mean you are from the future as well?
The future has not been written. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.
I wish I could believe that.

Glad to see you pop in! I completely get what you’re talking about wanting to take care of someone but they’d rather be left alone a bit. It’s frustrating.Daddy got his tattoo (that he got to cover up an old one) finished today, and now he's having weird flu-like aftereffects. I wanna go pet on him, but I know he's not feeling up to it, so I guess I'll work instead. *Grumble*
It definitely is. Luckily, he's feeling better now, so I hope I can go visit him soon. We live in the same town, but we both have sort of chaotic lives, so we don't get to see each other as much as we would like, unfortunately.Glad to see you pop in! Speedy recovery to your beau! And I hope you have a great trip to Daytona! 🏝My poor Daddy has the worst luck ever. On top of all his other stuff he's got going on, he stepped in a hole today while cutting his dad's grass and messed up his knee and ankle. I asked him if he needed anything, and he told me no. But I made him promise he'd let me know if he did because he needs to stay off of it as much as he can.
In other news, I'm going to L.'s house tomorrow to spend the night, and then we're going to get up Monday morning and head out for Daytona. Everyone please keep your fingers crossed that my rickety old truck will make it down there and back in one piece!
LMK how it goes. I've never had one either. Ugh-ly toes!!!! Best not to be seen in public.I just did something really scary and booked a time for my first pedicure ever. Letting someone touch or look at my feet is a big deal for me and there are other issues at play as well, so this feels huge.
It’s still a few weeks away, because I wanted it at the start(ish) of my vacation, so I have plenty of time to chicken out. We’ll see if I actually end up going and if I do go, we’ll see how I feel about it.

I will! And same, I think I have ugly toes (despite them not being particularly misshapen or anything) I don’t like showing my toes. In summer I wear flip flops and sandals with open toes sometimes, but it has to be with a maxi dress so that my toes kind of blend in with the fabric a little and can mostly be seen when I walk rather than when I stand still. The movement makes it more difficult for people to notice the toes, that’s my rationale. I wouldn’t dream of wearing something like shorts and flip flops. RED!!!!LMK how it goes. Thanks for the encouragement! I hate my toes and letting people see or touch them is a huge deal. It feels way too intimate somehow, I guess? My toes are fairly normal, just…issues. I also feel very uncomfortable paying for people doing something for me. I used to hate having my hair cut in large part because of that, but I’ve learned to relax and enjoy it now, so maybe there’s hope for me and my feet as well. Never had a manicure either.Seela, please consider keeping your appointment. Your post had me thinking back to my first pedicure appointment. I was probably in my 40s and it was a gift from my Dad's wife, who loved them. I remember feeling so uncomfortable at the thought...awkward even...but other than it being ticklish, I loved the result and have been getting them ever since. Even today, I had to stop the woman as she was giving me the massage part because I don't like it. 'It's not you, it's me...I don't like them.' I know most people love the massage but not me. So try it. See if you like it. Your feet might just appreciate it.
And yes, I know I'm unusual. I'll have 4-5 pedicures for every manicure...versus the women that only get manicures or have the opposite ratio to me.
Drive safe!!!So I am not sure if I slept at all last night, and we have about an 8 hour drive ahead of us. Oh, well, let's do this.
As long as it’s not fungus related (which is medical and highly contagious) the techs don’t care. They see all kinds of feet.LMK how it goes. I've never had one either. Ugh-ly toes!!!! Best not to be seen in public.
I used to go to a mani pedi place that when they sat you under the heat things for your nails to dry, gave you a massage on your shoulders. I wasn't expecting it and don't like massages...yup, it's that strangers touching me thing...that I literally jumped off my seat. 'No, just no thanks.' She quickly got the message never to do that again. Yup, boundaries. Don't be afraid to tell them not to do it. Hope your experience goes well. Thanks for the encouragement! I’m worried about the massage part, because my toe joints are not normal. My toes dislocate very easily, and while it’s rarely particularly painful, it’s not something I wish to experience either. So I’m more than a little worried the foot massage will end up in 10 dislocated toes. I’ll be sure to mention it before the massage begins and see how it goes. I doubt it’ll be very relaxing for me either way. Thanks for telling that you can skip the massage part if need be!
I also got this as a gift so I’m giving it a go, I guess, unless I chicken out. We’ll see!
Vibrating chair??? What the hell am I in for?My wife loves massages, so I give it my best shot...more like a back rub than a massage, because I've no idea what I'm doing. Problem is, she reciprocates, and I hate it. I can't bring myself to tell her her gift is unwelcome.
I get pedicures only because I have mobility issues, and can't reach my toes, but ixnay on the foot massage and the vibrating chair. And I agree with Seela, re: personal services. Something there that makes me uncomfortable.

Apparently mine is some sort of all inclusive thing that takes ages and ages. Like 2+ hours. I don’t know how long these things normally take, but this is a lot longer than I expected. It includes, among other things, paraffin treatment. Whatever that is. Sounds like wax play, so I’m excited about that bit at least. I hope the paraffin is nice and hot.I like getting pedicures because they make the bottom of my hooves so soft! And I can't paint my toenails at all. I'm right there with you on the massage part, though. It actually hurts. Some places have "menus" so you can choose the kind of pedicure you wish to have. I agree with the others who've said it's a-ok to tell them up front what you like / don't like. They want you to come back. Hope you enjoy!
