Isolated BDSM Blurts: Facehugger Fetish

Voted today.
Now the only thing that remains is hoping for the best.
I don’t know if it is just me getting older, but I didn’t use to feel this…dread about the outcome.
I was reading about your elections yesterday.

It wasn't until I got older, and especially after I retired, that I had the time to read, and then think about the things I'd read, that I became concerned about the consequences of my vote.

I’ve always been interested and always found it very important.
I just used to see all the alternatives that would get more than the odd percent of the vote as alternatives based on an idea about what would be good for the country and represented by relatively decent people.
What we are seeing this time is that several retired party leaders openly stated ahead of the election that they don’t feel able to vote for their old party in good conscience, based on the coalition alternatives they had signaled that they would be open to.

We have also had news about some rather hair raising corruption that made absolutely no waves, it seems.

The leader of the classic conservative party promised one of the survivors from the holocaust, Heidi Fried, that his party would never cooperate with the party founded by neo nazis. He forgot rather soon.
This year his party tried to buy the rights to her name. Not even that bit of information hitting the news, managed to result in any real outrage.

We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

It's the Trump effect.:(

Ugh, yes. It’s been discussed widely here, mostly because it’s similar to what what’s happened here in and since the 2011 election.

It was said in the news here that the result likely won’t be ready today. Has that changed? Such a weird election for you. Your system is so different from ours, too.

Etsy store is officially relaunched. God, I hopesomeone buys something this time, lol.
Fingers crossed for you! 🐰🤞

Might be ready late night.
It would surprise me if it makes any significant difference in the results.
The out of country votes tend to lean far right because it makes total sense to sit in Thailand and whine about violent crime rates in Sweden…

And so far the rounding up for the seats has favoured the left more, so that will not be the case at this point. (We use uddatalsmetoden - Webster/Sainte-Laguë method in English Wikipedia tells me)

Some of the representatives for the liberal party still strongly oppose working with the populist right, so they might still work as a joker later in the process. The party leadership has talked about meeting any opposition to the party line ”with cold, hard steel” - I mean, even the language…

Your system is so different from ours, too.

I’m painfully aware how little I know about your system.

Well yes, our alt-right are certainly taking style tips from Trump ( words you’d never thought would be put together.)

The ambition was there before though.
A political commentator has mentioned her lover, a spin doctor for the fiscal right, talking about needing to ”bleed out and dismember” our social security/public health systems, to make them unpalatable to the masses, and that was 15-20 years ago.
The things you need to put on your hard limit list of post-coital talk topics these days.

Yeah, it’s always the people who don’t live with the day to day reality of XYZ that seem to have the most opinions on it.

It’s the whole block thing that’s very different. We’ve had government coalitions with what would be the equivalents of your moderaterna and socialdemokraterna. The parties are individual entities, there are no set blocks.

It seems odd that moderaterna would get the prime minister spot just because the blue block gets the most votes, even though it’s a) not the party that gets the most votes in total or b) not the party that gets the most votes within the blue block.

And also the voting thing is so weird to me. You have to pick a list of the party you’re voting for and you have to pick the list in front of everybody, so basically everybody knows who you’re voting for because it’s the list that matters anyway first and foremost. That’s the weirdest thing to me, really.

Here everyone just gets a blank paper and scribbles a number on it.

Ah, so you are reasonable people.

The block thing is terrible but seemingly rooted deep.

It is. In my opinion and I think strictly by the book Magdalena Andersson as the leader of the Social Democrats, the party that got the most votes, should be asked to build a gouverment.

She would probably not be able to build a coalition that got enough votes from the parliament.
Then Jimmy Åkesson as the leader of Sweden Democrats, the party that got second most votes should get his chance.
I say that even though it might have become obvious already that I’m less fond of the…man.

The reason it’s not done like that, is probably because there have been agreements already made between the parties in that block. I also think they are trying avoid having out for over 130 days.

Yeah, there was critique about that the last time, so this time you had to get your lists hidden behind a screen. Made the lines longer, sadly.
What you used to fo ist take an assortement of lists with you behind the screen where you vote.

I’m sure we’d screw that up. 😂

Hm. This makes me think about the Turks here, who largely support Erdoğan. And the depressingly amusing part is, that they vote here left-leaning German parties, because of the immigration support, but right-leaning parties for Turkey.

I guess you can't get the hypocrite out of the human.

Yes, that is a good summary.

The thing about the european far right welcoming this, is a bit ”funny” because in the middle of SD working to seem harmless and cute, they visited the Viennese Korporations Ball 2012, just before it had to change it’s name to the Academics Ball because of the bad reputation they had for bringing together the far right of Europe. Can’t get more welcomed than that.

The ball has traditions that connect to fraternities like the Studentenverbindungen and Burschenschaften - groups that promote rather…”interesting” oldfashioned values of which the most harmless in my opinion is the mensur, fencing with sharp blades duel style.

Only in German sadly:

Yes, there are certainly strong parallells along with the general expat thing, living in safe ”reservations” where they don’t have to relate to the actual conditions people are living under in their new country.

No, I think we are pretty stuck with it.
We couldn’t just be the same as everyone else, no nore no less, could we?

I wonder if I would be a good or terrible mentor for another Dom.

Hm, I think it would depend a lot on the mentee actually.
”The trouble was that he was talking in philosophy but they were listening in gibberish.”

It’s very still right now. Right before a major storm everything, including the bugs, just goes quiet. You would think the wind would be blowing but it feels much more like all the wind has been sucked away. I’m curious on how the changing pressure will feel in my joints.

I’m anxious but not for lack of preparation. Can’t really shake the anxiety that comes with unpredictability. Good times. 👍🏻

Prepared is good.
I hope it misses you as much as possible and please check in when you can.

Yes, I never felt like calling it the calm before the storm. It’s a kind of threatening stillness.

What you wrote made me think of being out sailing with a friend and my husband, the ocean like a mirror around us, not a bird in sight, watching the black cloud forming in the distance, on the sulfur sky.
My friend said that he hoped there would be wind before the storm hit us, because on the little engine we wouldn’t reach harbour in time and I can still remember Mr Althea’s tone of voice as he said ”Oh, there’ll be wind all right when it approaches…”

Oh yeah, that’s eerie. It’s morning and the frogs have come alive. It seems things are moving slowly so it’s not on the schedule I went to sleep with last night. 🤔 This might take awhile.

Hope you are still doing well and haven't had to worry about flooding.

We had a few good wind gusts and about 4.5 inches of rain. No big deal here but thankful to dodge another one.
