Perceptions are everything.

I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately.

I walk through my work area today. I always try to make myself available if people need anything from me.

A young woman stops me and tells me a story of how a male coworker got all awkward around her and eventually told her she has pretty eyes. They are blue. I never quite noticed this piece of information before.

I tried to relate. Not even thinking.

Believe it or not I've had my share of women who worked for me get real uncomfortable around me. Blush. Stumble to find words. Look at me from the top of their eyes unable to make direct eye contact.

I'm gray.

I dress like a boss. Like a boss has to.

Perceptions are everything.

Perception is everything... I can safely say I would probably be the uncomfortable, stumbling, blushing coworker around you, and would think anyone who didn’t feel similarly quite strange.
