Let's hear your Voice! Part 2

I’ve heard that being said about southern accents. 😔

I only started noticing the southern thing after you pointed it out. It’s interesting how that works, until now I never paid attention to it even though I’ve heard you speak before.
Have you lost your regional accent? If yes, was it intentional? Do you have a favorite accent?

I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad habit to pick up traits of the accents you hear. I’m the same way in some languages. It’s funny to notice it happening. 😁
See, I always thought you’re Canadian! 😂 I’d never noticed what you say about “podado”. I’ll have to start paying attention, maybe that’ll help me identify some accents down the road. Language people are my kinda people ❤️
I think in big cities the accents are almost always a lot more muted than in more rural settings, regardless of the language and the country. To my untrained ear you sound pretty standard American, whatever that means. 😁
It’s always difficult to think about your own accent or general ways of speaking. I think it’s nice that you mention that you like the Southern accent, so clearly it doesn’t have the negative associations to you that JustAnotherFlower talks about.

And to sum up the best accent thing so far: people from the British Isles must have it dandy here. 🤣

I haven't lost my regional accent, slow drawl Texas twang. I am sure it has become less pronounced as I have lived in the upper Midwest for longer than I lived in Tx.

I have not purposely tried to lose my accent, maybe tried to not say certain phrases.

I remember when I first came up here and I said "used to could" to a group of friends and got laughed at so I dropped that phrase lol.
Switched to "used to be able to"
