Let's Rock

Back in the eighties I was pretty much just a metal or hard rock fan. My high school gym teacher used to run the T-shirt booths at the Civic center and employed some of us to work the tables. Cool thing was the small booths stopped selling when the main act came on, so we could hang out and watch the show. I was the only one that volunteered for all the metal shows while other kids were doing Stevie B (Ugh) and that type.

Springsteen came in on the Born in The Usa tour and he needed someone and asked if I wanted to work, I'm like sure, money's money and I'd leave when we sold out or shut down. Ended up staying and left a fan, like holy shit the energy in that show was just insane.
Just saw him Saturday night!

Something slightly different:
This reminds me of their version of Waltzing Matilda, which really does have Turks in it - namely, at the Battle of Gallipoli. The horror is very real too. The photographs are part of video version that someone else created. One of the biggest debacles in the history of the British Empire. (Hit the "Watch on YouTube" button to see it.)

A friend of mine mocked me once for liking female rockers. I told him I liked having women's voices in my ears, not men's. He shut up after that.
Worth noting that "Hound Dog" was actually a cover by Elvis. The original was released in 1952, I think, but I found a live version from 1971.

Currently going back to my misspent youth knocking about in the Bristol (UK) music scene of the 00s for my latest story. The soundtrack is going to be epic:

Let me start with this one. While Marvin Gaye's rendition is a classic, this is the one I remember the most. A tad over 11 minutes long.

And for all the metal fans, some Metallica:

And just 'cause I'm a HUGE Santana fan. I remember listening to the Abraxax album with headphones while checking the concertina wire in front of our bunker with a first gen starlight scope. Yeah I've been a fan that long.

And last, step into my wayback machine. Summer 1963...Jimmy Gilmer and the FireBalls

I had to add a couple more. Bob Segar, need I say more?

If an angel could sing, they would sound like this:

And again using the wayback machine, we go to the beginning of rock, a band most have never heard of...

And even farther back...
