This could go in News but @Zrosey 's post is worth a read and I don't want to throw it shade.

My news is via Pink News that reports on Rosie Jones - a comedian in the UK and her admirable attack on transphobic comedians Jimmy-tax-evasion-Carr and Ricky-snigger-Gervais.

“It’s your Ricky Gervaises, Jimmy Carrs,” Jones said. “It’s just your privileged cis white straight men who open their newspaper and go, ‘Oh, people are talking about trans people. I can know a bit about that without experiencing it at all.'”

I'm not a fan of Rosie tbh, but I do share her abhorrence of the men she names. They are two of the most unpleasant comedians on the circuit, although I could add another couple of men who resort to easy targets for cheap jokes.

It all makes me curious...what group will be the next punching bags? Seems to me transgender folk are easy targets, as a subset of the LGBTQIA+ and not always finding support within the so-called rainbow coalition.
Also trans really don't have any (or very little) legislative backing. Those in power can and do ascribe any weird take on us, and effectively no one around to dispute the lies.

Haven't checked your link yet, but I will...***** is kinda a jumble right now, so I'm off to put my wrench (or spanner if you prefer) to it 🌹

Yow! tried to ski today but it's pretty brutal cold.....my feet noped right out, so it was back to the house and hot tea to set things right.
January can be a serious cold and it's happening this winter. Oh well, the days are getting longer 🌞

Mood: erratic, wild swings, mostly smiling
wearing: fleece jammies
Listening to: occasional cracks and pops the house makes as the temp drops

I haven't been on skis in years— my knees. But I grew up on skis. I used to race, up to 30K. Sometimes I still dream of it, floating effortlessly through soft powder...

It is an amazing feeling on a good day!
I have a friend up here that blew out a knee skiing windslab....he is just now getting back to running after a couple of down years.

I went skiing for a day, managed down an intermediate slope without injury, then handed the skis back. I know my limits :)

I had to work outside all day, it wasn't overly cold but it was damp and sweaty ( it's a thing ) I now have a cough

Listening to - the quiet hum of central heating
Wearing: soft and warm
Mood: so tired

My downhill ski days are over, but it sure is fun hearing Zrosey talk about her adventures.

Hey, I hope your cough disappears soon.

I get that! I'm kinda scared of windslab, it feels too out of control for me!
My friend is a much better skier than I am, and it still bit him
Windslab?! Don't explain - it sounds like somewhere to avoid, like corniches

An ex gf of mine insists that the world is going through a collapsing process, that is entirely necessary to create some kind of rebirth for the world. Generally she talks bollocks but tbh looking at the bitching going on Lit recently and the way the US is imploding, she might have a point.
I'm off to dowse with my willow stave and let Gaia guide me with vibrations.

Can we try to keep this space positive and caring? Come here to recover, not to fight :rose:

Mood: kinda fragile
Wearing softies but I can still smell petrol under my nails ( long story - work )
Listening to: lemme see what iTunes suggests "When they came for Us" Shiny Toy Guns
Drinking: too right I am!!!

I missed the fighting, if there was any, or maybe the comment was just in reference to what goes on elsewhere. Either way, I'm with you, 100%😊
Urgh - you didn't miss anything seriously. Just the AH bitching the same old. If it wasn't for the constant sausage refs, I'd spend more time in LGBTQ+😆

This thing from your ex, it seems to align with even my feeling local to my small town.
I get the feeling of less tolerance, people seem more on edge, I feel like there is less friendly chat going on.

I was messaging with a friend of mine in Yukon T, Canada, she had commented it felt this way even there. Her and I kinda wrote it off to winter!
It's been a cold winter specially over her way in the Yukon and folks get touchy when they stay in too long cause of the cold.

After the sad events in Minnesota last week, I think this too reflects with some people.
I like your idea Stickygirl, it would be nice to have this as a positive refuge. I'm not against being able to talk out feelings, that helps us, but please let's be civil to those around us here 😊

Another cold day here so I'll probably get on long ignored house cleaning until I run off for my shift.
Stay warm out there, and I'm thankful I get to chat with y'all occasionally 🌹

Wearing: fleece pants n top and down vest!
Listening to: kexp, you go Cheryl ⚡
Mood: warm snuggly girl, daydreams of walking the rainy wet streets of Seattle...

This thread IS a refuge on Lit, mainly because it's another thread that was started by Stickygirl. She consistently models the behavior that she wants to see in other people. She attracts like-minded people to engage in respectful conversation.

My off-line refuges during these difficult times are my home, its surrounding landscape, and occasional or frequent long conversations with my four closest friends.

That's kind of you coati :rose:
I wish I could appear so measured in real life, but we have to speak on an impulse, which is not my strong suit. Generally I can type, think, re-type, rethink before committing myself online, but even then I fuck up - blind to interpretations I hadn't anticipated. I'm still stung by such an incident a few months back, but ... worse things happen...

I hear you about the rapid responses often required in real life. That certainly takes lots of practice if you want to avoid misunderstandings.

I do my best to think and assess as I speak, as do many of my neighbors who are Native Americans. They tend to shy away from rapid chit-chat.
