How do I write a scene with a car crash and have it not sound really boring? I bet screenplays for action movies are a snooze. Or maybe I'm just crap at writing that kinda stuff?

I love action but I can't stand writing action scenes, because I think I'm afarid of exactly that - making it boring.
I try and write it from one character's point of view. Is it fast or is it slow? (No pun intended) Is is supposed to be a surprise to the reader or is it expected?
