A certain Sufi tore his robe in grief,
and the tearing brought such relief he gave the robe
the name faraji, which means ripped open,
or happiness or one who brings
the joy of being opened. It comes from the stem faraj,
which also refers to the genitals, male and female.
His teacher saw the purity of the action,
while others just saw the ragged appearance.
If you want peace and purity tear away
the coverings! This is the purpose of emotion,
to let a streaming beauty flow through you.
Call it spirit, elixir or the original agreement
between yourself and God. Opening into that
gives peace, a song of being empty, pure silence.
first i was raw
then i was cooked
now i am burned
I love this......lots of great imagery here. Thank you Gregori for sharing
and i thank you for affordingme the pleasure of contributing to my favorite cocktail, the combination of spirituality and sensuality. nice idea for a post.
There is away of breathing
thats a shame and suffication
And there is another way of expiring
that lets you open infinitely.
Breath is life, be its rhythm and all else dissapears and be at peace
sigh
this is the kind of poetry that makes me, for a while, think of forever laying down my pen.
Seizing my life in your hands, you thrashed me clean
On savage rocks of eternal mind.
How its colors bled, until they grew white!
You smile and sit back: I dry in your sun.
The Sea boils with passion for you,
The clouds pour pearls at your feet
A lightning from your love has pierced the earth
This smoke curling to heaven is its child.
J - This is the entire piece!! I see how it all fits together. Thank you Reading this I get the same feeling as I do when I read "Thunder, and Perfect Mind” I feel the Male Aspect through his outpouring of love for his Beloved (God). Have you read "Thunder, and perfect mind"? If you haven't I can send it to you - to long to post here but a beautiful piece on the Divine Feminine and written by the Gnostics, from the dead sea scrolls.
They both have the same passion, the cadence that makes it feel like an invocation, affirmation both at the same time.
Reading this again this morning has taken me off the Hamster Wheel of work! I am going to dry in his SUN.... Blessings to you
This place is a dream
only a sleeper considers it real
then death comes like dawn
and you wake up laughing
at what you thought
was your grief
A man goes to sleep in the town
where he has always lived
and he dreams
he's living in another town
in the dream he doesn't remember
the town he's sleeping in his bed in
he believes the reality
of the dream town
the world is that kind of sleep
Humankind is being led
along an evolving course,
through this migration
of intelligences
and though we seem
to be sleeping
there is an inner wakefulness,
that directs the dream
and that will eventually
startle us back
to the truth of
who we are
“Every tree and plant in the meadow seemed to be dancing, those which average eyes would see as fixed and still”
Rumi
Tree limbs rise and fall
like the estatic arms of those
who have submitted to a mystical life.
I drink my wine to all of you
who have awakened from a dragonsleep
my soul in bits of memory
dancing in the firelight
surfeited yet again
but not now, though what IS now
compared to then; it does not matter
I will seek the desert, to find what you've found
and journey back again
perhaps w/ jewels upon my camel, and songs in my heart.
