So, as a low-maintenance guy, could you, or would you want to, handle have a high-maintenance woman? Or would you rather have a low-maintenance woman?

Same question in the converse, too. If you're high maintenance, do you prefer low maintenance mates? Could you handle a high maintenance lover?

in my experience high maintenance needs a high maintance partner ...can you imagine the conversations regarding what they will wear when they go out on the town??? :D

Well, if one's low maintenance and one's high maintenance, at least the low maintenance guy will tell a high maintenance woman she's beautiful and mean it. Instead of two high maintenence people making each other vastly insecure and competitive.

I'm very low maintance when it comes to material things, a man should consider it a coup if I allow him to buy me a cup of coffee. Emotionally I'm probably over the top high if I'm honest with myself and him, but I'm not so willing to share myself that way any longer - or something like that.

You sound like my kind of date, Cate. I love it when a woman buys her own coffee. :D

Like some of the other fine ladies before me, I'd probably have to say that I'm mid-maintenance. Though I'm not too scruffy-looking, I don't put a lot of time and effort into my appearance (though a lot of that has to do with chasing kiddies around the house), nor do I expect my husband to spend a lot of money to keep me happy.

Emotionally, however, I can be a bit demanding at times. :)

I'd go so far as to buy you a super-duper-latte-mocha-vanilla-double shot-espresso-shaken, not stirred-whatchamacallit coffee and I don't even drink coffee. :D

I'm with Norajane

Emotional within a relationship - yes I need attention paid to me and words express. Partly I believe as the words express to me by my father were always so critical and slamming.

That's me - :D

I'm definitely mid-low physically, and high emotionally.

I like putting effort into my appearance and surroundings, but not so much that I care about things like perfect nails, designers, or can't be ready to go in a few minutes if need be. I prefer to save money, and could care less about things like jewelry, meals out, gifts, cars, and fancy events. Independent exploration and budget hotels are very appealing; cruises, luxury accomodations, and tourist activities are not. I wouldn't do well with someone whose philosophies on these types of things varied widely, likely because we wouldn't appreciate the same things or even have a ton of activities in common.

But, like some others, emotionally I'm VERY high maintenance. I try to tone it down when I'm with people who aren't, but it feels wonderful to be with someone who understands and can reciprocate time, effort, attention, affection, and sharing of emotions. I wouldn't say I'm emotionally needy, but I do have a high baseline of emotional needs...that's just the way I was raised. My husband is almost my opposite in this area, and that's been a huge stumbling block for us...even after more than seven years, it still leads to some misunderstandings and pain. However, we have enough of the other important things in common that we've been able to settle on a pretty happy medium over the years and it works.

That would be a treat, o recently-hatted one. :rose:

Someone once said I was low maintenance in general - meaning, I don't need three hours to do my hair, make-up, and get dressed just to go to the grocery store, and I'm just as happy to stay in eating pizza and drinking beer and listening to music as I am to go out to a nice dinner or whatnot, etc.

He added that I was high maintenance emotionally, though, in that I needed to feel loved and admired in a relationship, whether through words or actions.

So, I think that makes me mid-maintenance on your poll?

this also sounds like me ;)

I've dated high-maintenance women in the past... And they're just a pain in the ass.

Being a blue collar guy with a blue collar attitude, I prefer a woman who is more on the low-maintenance side... Not TOO low maintenance... But enough to not be a whore to fashion (Why spend $500 on a new outfit because it's "trendy" when it will be "out of style" in two months?), appreciate the simple things in life, and understand that I work damn hard for my money and can't afford to spend $1000 on a night on the town.

if you've got a link, i'd be curious to see it. i'm trying to understand how a designer can create a purse that expensive and failing.

i'm just counting down the days until the burberry craze goes away.
