I know a few people who have done it and I'm reasonably comfortable that it wont leave marks

sharpies will stay on skin for several days. you can use an abrasive cleaner such as GOJO, if you need it removed sooner. just be careful not to use an abrasive cleaner on sensitive skin. part of the fun of sharpies is how long they actually stay on... reminding you of why you marked yourself in the first place.

Sharpies work well but can smear. Dark lingerie may help with the smearing, as to not damage light colors etc. Comes off skin quite easily with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol, (but again, careful of the delicate areas).
