Introducing myself and the book that tells you more than you want to know!

Some time ago I decided that my contribution to the action against the proposed bill outlawing the possession of "extreme pornographic images" would be to write and publish a semi-autobiographical novel, The Triumph of Hope", specifically to show how BDSM can be part of a rounded life practised by intelligent, caring, creative people.
It may be hot but it was not written simply to tittilate. It was written to explain. It was done at my own expense in terms both of financial investment and personal exposure, because I felt it was something someone had to do. I have been told that my honesty is refreshing and that I can help people to accept themselves and liberate them from fear and depression by my example.
DARE YOU READ THIS BOOK? It is available from all booksellers in paperback or as an ebook. For details visit http://www.youareunique.co.uk/Viscount.htm
There is an old Chinese proverb that before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in his shoes, so that when you do criticize him, you'll be a mile away and have his shoes. But, seriously, there is so much wrong with the way we respond to all forms of sexual deviance that I decided to do just that, change shoes and try to understand exactly what was going on by living it.
Together with many leading psychologists in the field of psychosexual development, I have become convinced that there is much in the best practice of alternative sexuality that is physically, mentally, socially and emotionally, extremely therapeutic. I have come to agree that "True BDSM is consensual, strengthening, and sustaining; true degradation is not. Therein lies the difference, and it is an all-important difference. "
This book is written by a very ordinary person, who, like all ordinary people, is a witch, a saint, a harlot, a warrior, a poet, an artist and a lost child.
Is it true? In a way ... Is it really about me? Now that would be telling ... but my playmates may recognise themselves in some of the composite characters I have created from the experiences we shared, in fantasy or in reality.
To be safe, I will adapt the standard disclaimer:
"The characters in this book are all figments of their own imaginations, or of mine"
Amelia May Kingston, February 2006

The book is a passionate and explicit exploration of the forbidden, in an attempt to understand the complexities of the human soul, with all its contradictions, its horrors and its tremendous potential. It does not suit mainline BDSM publishers who are looking for titillation not truth and want "ball-breaking BDSM from the get-go." It is too raw for academic, literary or general fiction markets. But in case it misses the mark, the subject of alternative sexuality will form the basis of my continuing studies for a research MSc and a Doctorate. I would be glad to contact any volunteers willing to take part anonymously in questionnaires, interviews etc. over the next few years.
