New story in Incest/taboo

IN the realm of I/T the name Alwayswantedto is always mentioned as the undisputed master. I'd be hard pressed to argue as I always saw him that way, but in mother/son which is pretty much all he wrote.

To me Paco Fear-who only did sib stories-was even better. he captured the true love and emotion that people who don't like or understand the category scrunch their faces up and say 'love?" but anyone who knows I/T knows the readers do enjoy that as much as the sex.

Words on Skin is PF's standard, but personally I feel Stolen Kisses is on par with it.

Also when I was brand new here and having issues with getting a story submitted and questions about I/T I reached out to him. I was brand new, only a couple of stories under my belt and he hadn't been writing for awhile, but he got back to me and in long lengthy detail and really helped me out.

As time went on here and I saw some of the tools that are out there or authors who think they're better than or just can't be bothered I appreciated his helping me even more. I've always used him as an example when someone contacts me for help and my first thought is I don't have time for this...I think of how well he treated me and I make time.

I've done the 'fun fluffy' I've done some stroke and I've done some I don't care what they like here's my story. I will sound a little cocky in saying to this day there is nothing out there like my Siblings with Benefits series. I'll now walk back the cocky and say there could be reasons for that.

But it was my first effort and a long series and the darkest I/T story you can find and full of everything they hate. So I think starting out by not really caring, helped me as a writer because I was never obsessed with the vote/view and paved the way for me to write the more fun stuff a lot easier.

As for what you're saying about the audience. There are some that day in day out can be handed 'mom sees son's dick and jumps on it' and will rave over it. Its all they need and they're easy to write so they'll always exist, especially for people obsessed with stats.

Oh, and Carnal Flower....The Witching Hour and Baby Doll are well worth a read for anyone seeing this.

I've read Words on Skin, which stands far above most other short stories in the I/T category, but not the others you mentioned, so I'm going to read those. Thanks for those suggestions.

Also when I was brand new here and having issues with getting a story submitted

I’ve been reading all the comments on this thread but haven’t commented myself for the simple reason I’m not good enough to do so. But then 15 words jumped out at me from the author of one of my all time favourite stories. One that actually is a story. I find it hard to believe that he ever had “issues with getting stories submitted” whatever the issues may have been. But it’s nice to know and gives me hope. Particularly as my first two stories were rejected and then somehow slipped through the net and were published when really they shouldn’t have been. But at least it gave me the opportunity to be given some advice by more experienced writers for which I thank them. To refer again to Lovecraft saying about the help he was given when he first began. I have, in less than a month, already had two very good writers help me. It’s appreciated even more when you know that people who do that don’t have to do it. Let’s hope I put their advice to good use.

I've had at least 15 types of rejections on Lit alone. It happens to pretty much all of us.

My issues were common. Formatting the first time, then grammar. I find that funny now when I see what is easily passed through these days, but back in 2010 I think the site cared more or maybe just had a lot less stories and could take more time.

The other things PF helped me with here were some questions about, age and a couple of other things I wasn't sure was allowed here.

I'm glad to hear you're getting good advice. A lot of AH members will help, but reaching out to authors that you happen to like-which is what I did with Paco-is an utter crapshoot.

Agree, a very, very high bar indeed, both of those stories. They're aspirational stuff, and show how powerful good writing can really be.

Fortunately, they were some of the very first stories I read here on Lit, which is why I'm so dismissive of the dross, of which there is so much.

I didn't like "Words On Skin". I thought it was an anal incest stroke story that strove to be a lot more and failed miserably.

I'm not going to say you're wrong, because if you didn't like it then you didn't like it. But I will say that if I'd not read "Words on Skin" (or "Maccalan Promises", more to the point) and enjoyed it so much despite the subject matter, I wouldn't have given the category a try myself. Writing "Crash Into Me" was the most fun I've had challenging myself as an author here.

No accounting for taste, I suppose, and you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I'll just record an opposing viewpoint, that Words on Skin is one of the best stories on Lit.
Differences of opinion - and taste - are, after all, what makes the world go around.
