The society has changed too now. Being a cougar is no longer odd or frowned upon. Social media has helped, I still remember when Demi Moore and Ashton were together… it was an aha moment for many. Are you at all familiar with the scene at overnight truck stops?
There are many places where you find women going from truck to truck.
From what I have seen, and admittedly this is from the outside, but the superficial appearance is not of women motivated by lust.
I firmly believe that sex workers deserve respect.
And I am very comfortable with the idea of sex workers who have basic control over the circumstances in which they work, such as escorts and brothel employees.

Street walkers, on the other hand, seem to be generally working in very desperate circumstances with little or no control.
Truck stop workers seem to be trapped in similar circumstances. Maybe I am wrong about this. But I do not think that it is fair to characterize my perception as "pathetic."
