I quite like the idea of being a nude model, but I can't imagine being able to do it without getting an erection. What does one do in this scenario?

Male nude models are very much in demand and you don't have to have the body of a weight-lifter. Just be reasonably active and enjoy showing yourself off. As I stood there completely naked in front of a bunch of complete clothed strangers for the first I soon realized that they have seen it all before. Sometimes you get to pose with a female but this is rare. I'm a nudist and used to the sight of naked bodies, however, to be stood, nude, so close to a nude female stranger, was a little unusual. However, it all went OK. We completed several such poses and then went into a longer pose. I asked if she had any problems with physical contact. She was quite relaxed about it. Since then we have modeled together several times for art and photography classes.

I'd love to be a nude model...not because it's about being sexual but because I think it would be fun and extremely erotic, with or without another model

A life modeling session is not the erotic experience that non-models often assume it is. Proper mental control should usually be sufficient to avoid an erection from occurring. If an erection does occur, artists typically will not comment on it, but every effort should be made to mentally end it as soon as possible.

Exhibiting a prolonged erection in a standard studio session is considered unprofessional behavior.

I modeled nude for art classes for two years. I found it to be easy work that paid fairly well. I was able too hold interesting poses for long periods of time and I was always very professional about the work. I agree, being semi-hard is not too much of an issue but that leakage can be awkward...depending on the situation.
