Orgasm questions

This is totally off topic.

Is it new?

Thank you.

Yes, the pic is new. It is maybe three days old now, and the hair cut is a week old. How nice of you to notice. I figured it was time I gave my posts a "face lift" and had changed to a BDSM pride flag, but once I found the "Does anyone want a pic resized for an Av" thread, I thought what the hell! ;)

I don't ever rely wholly on my doctor to get at the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about something. Ever since he prescribed me a form of the contraceptive pill which interfered with some other medication I was taking (and which he had prescribed).

Any way back to topic re medication and sex drive, i don't know where you are in the world Gilly but over here in the cold and grey UK I get really depressed and have low libido during the winter months.
I have steered clear of anti depressants ever since a friend of mine went off sex for a year and put on loads of wieght whlist taking them (that was oprozac i think). Why not come off the medication for a month or two and let your body adjust - do all the right stuff; you know, get sleep, get sunlight; eat right; relax; go on holiday if you can; buy yourself some sexy/pretty new clothes. In a months time see how you feel.

I found that St Johns wort practically keeps me sane during the winter months - wihtout it i feel like curling up and crying every grey morning. If you feel the need for an antidepressant why not try that? give your body a break first though.

PB Walker - i wish my doctor was the kind of person I could discuss libido/orgasm/sex stuff with but that would entail more of a description than i am willing to give at this moment. After-all how do you say to your doctor -
" i'm having this problem normally i get really turned on by being tied up and ass fucked till i scream but recently i'm so dry it hurts even when it gets put in my cunt???"

I guess alot of us are wary about doctors either becasue we think they don't approve of our lifestyle choices or becasue we don't trust them to tell us everything about the drugs they prescribe - or both. Always remeber Gilly its your body and you have a right to good orgasms and a right to say no to drugs (jesus i sound like a bad eighties educational program - just say no kids) i'd better go now - good luck everyone

Re: it's the zoloft

I must admit I did not read through this whole thread. But, yes. Zoloft is evil. It has sexual side affects for both genders. 16-18 I was on it and got up to 250mg before I took MYSELF off it. I was a zombie with no will to live when I was on Zoloft.

What if Zoloft saves your life?

Going off Zoloft isn't an option for some people -- right now at this point in my life it gives me the will to live.

Maybe it would be better if it had robbed me of my libido -- instead I am just as horny as ever, but it takes me forever to climax, if I do at all.

I'm with Gilly -- after 45 minutes of direct clitoral stimulation, if it hasn't happened yet we give up because it doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen and it starts to seem less like fun and more like a job.
St. John's Wort interferes with the effectiveness of most birth control pills.

I am allergic to Ginko Biloba, one herbal remedy supposed to help the orgasm thing.

I'm going to ask my doctor next time I go, to, but we discussed the possibility of this side effect when I went on zoloft and he only suggested taking a "drug holiday" -- going off for just a few days to have good sex and then going back on -- but that only makes me so depressed that I am not interested in sex or anything else.

HELP!!!

Gilly, have you asked your doctor yet?

Re: What if Zoloft saves your life?

Well, obviously Zoloft has different affects for different people. When I was on 250mg a day, I had no will to live...

Yohimbe

I thought Yohimbe was only for men. What can you tell me about its uses for women?

Info I found on the Internet was not encouraging:

Do not use while taking any medications, or if other medical problems exist, such as; angina pectoris, depression, other psychiatric illness, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, or liver disease. Do not exceed the recommended dosage for Yohimbine, as an overdose could, in extreme cases, result in death. Generally, yohimbine is not recommended for use by females for libido enhancement, and certainly is not to be used during pregnancy.

And:
Yohimbe works by temporarily and selectively blocking the sympathetic system which controls sexual function throughout the act and up until the point of ejaculation, at which time the sympathetic system takes over to achieve orgasm. The result is an ability to stave off the male ejaculation, subsequently increasing the duration of intercourse.

I certainly don't want to stave off my orgasms any further than they already are!

On the bright side, it's been linked to fat loss :D

Let me say, however, that I am very open to natural/herbal suggestions. I have heard about L-arginine in both pill and cream form as helping this problem. Has anyone tried this?

I know that for me when a doctor put me on a pain medication for cronic pain he gave me vicodin and methadone to all men do not take methadone it cuts all urges of wanting sex i could not get a hardon no matter how much sucking the girl did. now the doc. i see trying different drugs and i can get an erection and i have the erge but it still not the same. I know medication will affect your erges.

Along the lines of what PB said, thare are some natural enhancers that I've been told help. My wife had a full hysterectomy and experienced some impact on her ability to reach orgasm. She has found success with those L-carnitine/ menthol cremes that you aply directly to the clitoral area to enhance stimulation. They all seem to work the same but the range in price is from modest to sinful. I think the leeast expensive is Vibra-fem. We found it in health/ organic type store in Gainesville, FL, called "Mother Earth". PM or email me if you want the info of the container (after everyone else wakes up). There was a toll free number and a website address.

Oh, also following PB's comment. I take the yohimbe fairly regularly myself. I am on a beta blocker for a heart rhythm problem rather than BP which they are already correcting with another med. The beta blockers are notorious for affecting libido. Docs don't like yohimbe because it elevates BP. You should keep an eye on that if you try it. Since I am, in effect, actually over medicated for BP, (it''s low when not taking yohimbe), I seem to get away with it. I think that's why docs don't like yohimbe though so be careful if you try it.

A cousin was on Prozac and Wellbutrin, but the dr. and he figured out it was the Prozac that dried up the libido and produced impotence. So he's on Wellbutrin, and he's fine.

Indeed, it's a bit of an 'open secret' that, for many, Wellbutrin *enhances* desire (and does not hurt performance).

A little research shows that the whole family of antidepressants known as SSRI's have this effect; that's Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Luvox,.....

There are a few NOT from that chemical family, such as Wellbutrin, Trazodone.

While some should stay on Prozac if it's keeping them from suicide
(though some suicides may well be *caused by it... that's a suspicion of some researchers), as my doctor says,
"What's the point is getting rid of depression if you end up unable to enjoy sex?"
