Perfect or Great Songs - But You Have To Write About It

I'll Stand By You - The Pretenders

Chrissie Hind has matured so much, and had been through so much in her life by this point that it provides the power and sincerity of the raw emotion expressed here:

Come Dancing - The Kinks

There's a story behind this: One night, Ray and Dave's (Davies, if you don't know) older sister Rene, gave Ray his first acoustic guitar for his birthday on June 21, 1957, and then went dancing at the local Palais, where she had a fatal heart attack on the dance floor and died.

There's a tribute and a painful memory behind this hit song.

Robbie Williams - Karma killer.

All the bad choices I made and

Look what you didn't take from me.

Quite a few of his songs hit home.

Groundhog - The Groundhogs

This is actually a virtuoso solo acoustic performs by T.S. McPhee, lead singer and guitarist. The sheer wizardry and masterful control of tone is unparalleled. It's a simple story, but here's a hint (LOL) - he's not talking bout an actual groundhog.

Love the groundhogs!

Thank Christ for the bomb is a great record. Post freakbeat? I’d put it up against sf sorrow or even village green.

It’s a killer album.

This song I love, because firstly it is in my mothertongue! Swiss German, not even Germans understand my language, then it is about Switzerland!
About home feeling in my Country, and why it is so! It has yodeling in it and so I think, even you won’t understand that is SWITZERLAND

That is awesome. I speak a tiny bit of German and I only understood “schôn.” I work w a lot of Germans and a few Swiss, so I will have to show them this vid.

There is something about songs about “home” from Europe that hit a lot harder than songs about “home” in the US.

Oh I thank you and wonder what they will say, and well I enjoy the song

Just a reminder to some of the newer posters, what sets this thread apart from most other others is that we’re asking people to write why the songs are perfect or great.

Why it impacts you or hits you so hard is the stuff of this thread!

Wind Up - Jethro Tull
This songs is probably about the Church of England, but it speaks to me as a former Catholic. I was baptised at weeks old, but later I learned that if you left Catholicism you were condemned to hell. That's fucked up. Where are my consent rights at a week or two old?
