On boards when a newbie tries to participate and start a thread then in short order someone posts a link to a old thread that more or less is the same subject matter.
Weather intensional or not , that hijacks the newbies thread. If the subject matter has been covered and you don’t feel like posting in the thread why not just pass it by instead of basically posting “ oh yea we already covered that subject long before you came along , so , there’s that.
New Lurkers and newbies join and view threads daily. Why discourage them instead of encouraging fresh views , new posters and new comments other then usual suspects that have covered everything under the sun after being here forever and a day.
New posters are the life blood of any board.

While I agree that new users are the lifeblood of a message board, the reality is that many knowledgeable posters have contributed to this forum for many years and there is a wealth of information here. NOT sharing the existing thread would be a disservice to a new poster.
My post said “ in short order. After a few days or a dozen posts or so I agree with your statement in regards to sharing.
That is the perfect Segway to another pet peeve of mine. Thank U
Bumping older threads. While I agree that just typing out ...bump .... and not adding a comment on a older thread isn’t participating. But a bumped thread that has a good title like this one as a example , that has been dormant. Why not as a newbie bump it with a comment instead of starting a new one.
If the older , wiser , already been here’s done that poster has already posted in the thread. Why complain about bumped threads ? Why not contribute a new thought or just pass in by ?
Once again, discouraging new posters , virgin posters and lurkers that read threads old and new and are timid to post because of that sorta marking of territory so to speak is counter productive. Like putting personals in the wrong sections of the site.
Just a pet peeve of mine nothing more nothing less.
I'm still waiting to read about your experiences on electroplay on that thread. I can see how you view posting a link to a previous thread could come across as saying that topic has already been discussed. I also see it as a contribution of additional information though. I would hope that it is still discussed in the new thread. I personally like hearing ideas and experiences different than my own, from new people and people that have been around a while.
To answer your question , my experience on that subject matter was the same as Deep Green eyes verbatim as he stated , before he referenced the older thread. I did how ever find the subject matter interesting two fold. The second being that it was a newbie thread. My post was a knee jerk reaction . As I’ve stated in this thread it’s a pet peeve of mine. My bad.
I found this thread and felt it was the perfect spot to explain that. It's also a very good thread idea that is always a good read on boards. Kudos.

Bumping old threads is against the forum rules, but with little detail and it’s handled differently in different forums. The BDSM forum is a slower moving forum and I don’t consider it disruptive to bump old threads as long as the new post is one of substance. The most common bump of an old thread is someone answering a question posed a dozen years ago by a poster who hasn’t logged on since.
I understand. I know this is completely off topic here but the discussion that takes place on this board is what always draws me back. I learn more when I read opposing views and different experiences than when it's something that I already agree with or know about. Differences are what makes things interesting.
but it might help someone else in a similar situation
just my tuppence

Yes, absolutely this, which is why I typically only delete the bump posts if they are clearly intended to disrupt the forum (thankfully for me and all of us, this only really seems to happen with any frequency on the GB) or spam.
Do U use a translator app to write American English or straight up know what your or you are doing when you type out a post ?
Quoted for fucking irony.

When you ask someone a question and they ignore it and say something unrelated to keep the conversation moving.
