I love the simplicity of the digital camera and as an IT geek, I just love being able to alter the image via the PC.

LOL, I share my life with one who lives and breaths IT and gets frustrated at times with my basic level knowledge....hmmm, we can't all be the genius he is!! I did get caught up for awhile in the beauty of digital for alterations and repairs, but lately have been in a place where some are challenging the urge to rely on that. The result has been good in that I have found myself trying harder to get back to where I was before digital by getting the best shot I can, and not needing to alter unless it is to add special effects. I am enjoying the challenge of having to produce unaltered shots which I can be proud of, and I think overall I am improving beyond any previous level I felt I had reached. Still love playing with them by choice, but find it is less often I have to.

I understand totally what you mean, there is a wonderful sense of satisfaction when you catch that elusive perfect image. It's happened to me once so far ... I can only hope that as I take more pics it happens more regularly. I have my own pic thread where I use myself as the model but I would love to try taking some of other people. Using yourself as a model can be extremely frustrating.

i hope i am not repeating myself, as i forget what i posted here...

here some pictures from peru again - from a three day hike to some remote mountain villages...

I started to think, how great Michael Douglas must have it knocking up this chick time after time, but the one thing that I've learned is that a lot of guys think that the chick is lucky to be with them...

These are some shots from the National Aquarium in Baltimore. I did them as wallpapers for my daughters.

singlefishwp.jpg

Shot with a Nikon D70 and cleaned up with PhotoShop. (Never take pictures of fish while they're being fed, clouds the water.)

beautiful pictures, silverlily.... i did some pictures in an aquarium once, but as i don't have a tripod and my camera is not digital (thus i tend to have more problems when there isn't much light) they ended up much too blurry...

today just a sunset from "my" village in peru... i know the horizon is not quite straight - again, having no tripod i had to stable my camera on some stones, and that was best i could do...

It's a wonderful picture :)

I only picked up a tripod recently and have yet to take it on a photo shoot with me. I have many, many pictures where the horizon isn't level. My hands aren't the most stable, and when I use the viewfinder I always crook the camera slightly, not sure why..

thanks... actually i often take the picture out of my hands, without stabling the camera, when the light really is to low for that, and quite often it's okay... but a tripod would still be nice...

anyway, here is another one from my village - it isn't actually as blurry as it looks here, that has more to do with the scan...

I put my tripod in the car this morning, but it was cloudy, expecting rain, so I didn't go out shooting today.

Speed Shooting

I shot these today at 1/800 5.6

These are my babies. :D

(The orange one is Mr. Peepers. The other is Tempers. Hehe.)

Aw, what darling babies! That's one of the few times you can get cats to pose for the camera--when they're asleep.

Morning moon....maybe I should have focused on the foreground

By George, I think I've done it

Manual focus using a slow shutter speed. I focused on the trees instead of trying to focus on the moon.

What I like most about this photography is that it is much lighter than it was out side.
