Piercings and tattoos, what made you decide to get them?

I had always wanted to get a tat but was too chicken of how much it would hurt...

My wife decided she was going to get a small tattoo and I have a tattoo artist for a client so off we went...I watched her getting it done and saw it wasn't terrible so I just had to do it...started with her name on my calf with our wedding date

Then got a second one with our son's name written in a font that is used in the Avengers movies with his date of birth and his high school's mascot a shark

Then I got covid really bad in March of 2020 and thought I was going to die but recovered a month later so I got a cartoon lookong covid virus wearing a mask...

Then my mother passed away from dementia so I got a ribbon with flowers that represents dementia..I left an open space in the ribbon was going to have love mom written...but instead waited...

My wife found a handwritten note from my mom at a time just before she was unable to figure out how to write anymore... I had her words in her hand writing tatted on me...gets me emotional just typing this...

I will be getting a tat in honor of my father when he passes..he is a retired union electrician so I will get a squeezed fist with lightning bolts shooting out and his union number.

"Piercings and tattoos, what made you decide to get them?"

For me the question is round the wrong way, it should be

"Piercings and tattoos, what made you decide NOT to get them?" ... other people's piercings and tattoos.
I totally agree, some people look like they have the local newspaper copy pasted on their bodies.
Infact they should have a tattoo that reads 'if found, don't return to this address '.

Ummm...... Ouch......! Well, while my piercings are pretty plain and boring, I'm hoping others have fun and interesting stories.
i convinced my wife into getting her nipples pierced years ago i love playing with them still to this day

They look good. They feel good. They are a bit of kink that I can hide from most people but can share in the right environment. My favorites are my piercings below the belt. I love having a secret that no one would imagine under my professional business and personal persona.

Tattoos with significant meanings to each. Being a guy, I have nothing pierced.

I have a load of tattoos.

I chalk it up to my misspent youth.

And my misspent 20s. 30s… 40s… I’m 58.

They each have special meaning to me. An ode to friends, family, parents, those o liver on the planet, my old army unit.

And Godzilla.

I’m pretty covered at this point and have been getting tattooed for almost 25 years. They’re healing for me, and I’m proud of everything I’ve put on my body. Do I overthink every piece? No, life is hard enough, sometimes I just need permanent stickers. Some of my favourites are actually the smallest ones, especially my hand tattoos. Every piece holds a story and reflects a time in my life. I will continue to get tattoos until I can't. I've not done anything on my chest and that likely will be next after baby.

I’ve gone through phases with piercings, I took my nipple piercings out after getting pregnant, but I’ve had my septum ring for 25 years and still love it. I also love having medium-sized gauged ears, again, it’s just part of my identity. I haven’t done anything new in years, I just like how it looks and how it feels like me.
