'Christmas traditions' are rooted in paganism and the mid-winter solstice. That celebration was hijacked by medieval clergy and overlaid by a fake festival, and they didn't even bother to change the date. Ever heard of lambs in mid-winter?

Team WatTyler: a platoon of cosplaying "militiamen" armed with whatever weaponry they can carry

up against

a random regular US Army infantry platoon (i.e. no airborne ranger special forces jungle warfare types) carrying a standard TOE load, all of them must be volunteers.

Whoever annihilates the entire other platoon first is the winner.

It should make for a very entertaining 30 minutes or so of fun for the whole family

We enjoy going to Christmas concerts and parties. Shopping at arts & crafts fairs is enjoyable and we get to support some talented local makers. And there’s an annual lighted bike ride that we participate in.

If you’re overly cynical you miss out on good stuff.
