You are right. The south is a melting pot. I live in Alabama, it is the state with the most interracial marriages. But a large part of the population seems to not know this.
I also live just outside Huntsville Alabama. I once heard a man speak at my synagogue. I cannot remember the numbers, but he said something like of all the 150 countries there are on this earth, around 145 have people living in this area.
