So, Lit folks... are, however, required to have direct access to legal documentation for any model that appears in 'obscene' images.

Aha , so, not being subject to the US crazy legal system (except where our elected todie PM says we should) - I'm home free! But as I'm totally uninterested in any way in seeing juveniles "practising", I guess that doesn't help me all that much either....

Thanks for your reply......what I don't understand and probably a lot of other folks neither is, how can this rule be followed in praxis??? Can't believe we're expected to send scanned passports somewhere... :D

Browsing pics on LIT one get's absolutely confused about obscenity.....so it's obscene to post a poppy flower on your pussy, but it's not obscene to post pics of penetration, cunningulus, buttfuck, blowjobs etc?

I'm not here to defend or attack Lit, really. The rules that Lit set out are fairly clear. People who post here are supposed to honor them. We've already established that the system of moderation that Lit "employs" is far from perfect. Yes, pix that are perfectly acceptable for Sunday School get deleted, and those that would offend nearly everyone get entirely overlooked. We all know this to be true.

We understand the problem, I think. What would be meaningful now is thinking of creative ways we can join forces and promote some advocasy to get the law overturned. Clearly, this is something that the constitution protects, and we have a legit desire to express this kind of protected speech.

There are four paths, as I see it. 1) Do nothing, and honor the rules. 2) Ignore the rules, post what you like, and see what happens. 3) Jump ship and go to an off-shore site that isn't restricted by US law. 4) Honor the rules, and advocate for a change in the law.

Personally, #4 sounds the most appealing to me. If we find value in this ersatz community, this virtual playground of interesting individuals, then it is our responsibility to care for it by respecting its rules. The rules are based on an unjust, unfair, law that needs to be changed. How can we do this?

Personally I've always been a fan of civil disobedience. That means ignoring a bad law, and if enough people do it, the (bad) law is overwhelmed. Heck, it brought down the bloody British Empire! And you lot even invented it!

Of course it's easy for me to say that, not being subject to the US's peculiarly primitive legal system.

Honestly, I think what you guys should really be doing is lobbying for a total reformation of US law to try and bring it out of the 18th century.

It's frankly the most draconian on the planet, after Saudi Arabia.... At least you don't chop bits off people any more, but your execution rate is phenomenal...

No idea.....how about we write a petition to Bill Clinton? :D

Seriously, I don't see a way.....this site has a history of nude pictures, delete them all and some of us will probably still stay for the fun of talking and do some other things more discrete......but is it why this site was opened for? ;)

Who do I PM to get my picture thread removed?

And as far as starting your own board. You'll have to find a board that follows European or African guidlines, because the USA is just as fucked up as Middle Eastern countries with the morons that are in office right now.

I am so happy I chose to move to Holland rather than my husband moving ot the USA. I don't think he would have survived living in the USA.

Wow, I'm glad that you just called the entire mid-east fucked up. If you want to delete your pic thread, you can remove all of the pictures very easily off the control panel site.

I don't live in the Netherlands, maar ik ben Nederlands en wat u zei was niet indrukwekkend.

Civil disobedience works when the individual breaking the law is the one who will suffer the consequences. In this case, if we use Lit to break the law, Lit will suffer. Not us. So, that's the real challenge here.

Laurel and Manu did a good thing by creating Lit. They were visionaries who knew that a unique set of tools like these could support a vast and scattered group of people who share similar interests. Even from the beginning, however, they had rules related to content. Sites like ASSTR, which arose from the world of News Groups, have no such limits, but they don't have the features offered by lit.

I do see some possibility for positive action. I believe that if every person who posts here calls or writes the ACLU and speaks honestly about how the law has limited our self-expression, maybe we can convince them that there's a reason to fight for this in the courts. The FSC seemed to have failed, but that doesn't mean that all avenues are exhausted.

You can also contact all of your elected federal representatives and explain why the law should be changed.

Who knows... Maybe we could make a difference. It would certainly be better than doing nothing.

Peace.

This has been my point all along. It IS confusing and rather random. If the "law" is to be followed... then it needs to be followed across the board, not just when someone happens to stumble across it.
In the grand scheme of things - it doesn't really matter all that much. :)
