I agree with sexbynumbers - a funny interesting PM is always appreciated - or even one in response to something I've written on one of the boards - who wouldn't be flattered to know that someone else had been aroused by something they've written?
I think it's a shame that men don't get as many unexpected PM's - I know my husband would love some!

I imagine that a woman's unsolicited PM is welcome because 99% of men on lit don't get them. It is like we are trying to compare apples to oranges.

You are very correct. When I first started be active on these boards the sheer volume of pms made it impossible to reply to them all. Now I do try and reply, sometimes though can get caught up in a conversation and the rest just don't get replied too. I do appreciate the attention though!

Some of you make me laugh - expecting articulate, creative, funny, sexy, beautifully crafted PM's on an erotica site from men?
Next you'll be telling me they actually need to be tall dark and handsome, and prove such by a legit photo of their sculpted bodies and chiseled looks.
Some of you need to get a grip on reality, all walks of life, with layers of shyness, self esteem issues and a natural desire just come here to engage in conversation. No matter how bad you literary geniuses think they should be. Men or women.
Some just find a solace here they don't get in REAL life. And you discard them as trolls or perverts or idiots. Some might just want to talk, be naughty and thoroughly improve their sexual playtime by talking to YOU. Instead of being alone.
So be polite. Be respectful. Why not have the courtesy to say 'thanks but I'm not here to chat' or simply help them on their way.

How do you know what they write? No one is talking about looks- this is lit like you pointed out. There is a difference between being lewd and being courteous. Not everyone on lit wants to be treated like a worthless sex slave despite us thinking so

Agreed. I was merely trying to point out everyone pm'ing isn't an arse worthy of ignoring just because they're male.
But like you said earlier - and noting your comment on it 'no one is talking about looks' - really? If I posted a pic on my avi as myself, and I ended up being a smoking hot, charming tall Brit, what's the bets the fickle assumers would suddenly respond to my PM's? Most PM's I've ever sent are relevant, polite and observant of the evident traits of a poster. Male or female.
Most responses? Always male.
Most ignored? Mostly up their own arse women who think they must receive spectacular efforts to graciously deserve a response.
If we live in a world of equality, why don't women have a stab at wooing us men over pm?

Nope, and I never send them either. I might engage in contact with someone who has relevant interests, but mostly, they don't reply. Fair enough. On some occasions, I get one or two replies, then the person disappears. That's weird.

yes, I have many more pms now with a profile pic. Only had an av up for a bit and then decided it was too revealing for my comfort LOL which is kinda funny it being a porn site but oh well!

Because I don't post on the boards often, I prefer to keep my discussions private. And 98% of the time, it's not women engaging in PM's.
Ironically, the only 2 female instigated PM's I've had in a while ended up being from very cool, funny, hot girls.
Most girls I've ever pm'd - mostly don't respond.
Guys? They respond every single time

XpersiusX - I see what you're saying, and I'm not disagreeing with you. What I've come to realise about Lit is that you can't expect the dynamics between men and women to be any different on a sex forum than in real life. Us guys always have to try harder to be interesting enough to warrant any female attention. It may even be harder on Lit to do so, coz we're working without physical presence, body language, etc. All we really have are words, and often they can fail.
I too get more women ignoring my PMs than responding, sometimes it sucks, other times I really don't care. And often, I make the effort to engage in a decent manner by introducing myself politely, keeping it light and funny, asking them non-sexual questions, etc only to receive a bland, one-liner answer in return. Then I don't bother responding again. So it works both ways.
The point that I'm coming to is, like in life, there'll be those who dig you and those who don't. Regardless of looks. We just have to work with the ones who do.
