Remember your first car...

1979 Plymouth Volare. 4 door with a 318. It was a tank but still moved quick (too fast for a 16 year old boy!) with a HUGE back seat;) Second car was a 1972 Nova. That one got rear ended, and nobody wanted to tackle straightening a uni body frame. So I sold it like a dumb ass. Does anybody go on e bay and look for the car you had back when? I would love to have either one of these back!!!

Sounds like the mighty 472. There used to be a guy who ran one at the local drag strip. That was a fun car to watch run the 1/4 mile.

1966 Ford Fairlane

Blew through 2 trannies and a set of tires in less than 3 years. Typical teenage boy.

Smoked so bad that the last time I took it down to The Gut in Eugene, strangers complained. I would have been embarrassed by my attention was on the pair of thighs next to me that my hand was playing within. :D

Our first family car was a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500. Adults and kids, all 7 of us were in that one car. That was before the required seat belt laws days. I still have a picture of that car.

Had a 1963 Dodge 9 passenger wagon, with a 318 V8. It looked something like this.

I'm guessing it wasn't as nice as that one though Earl. That's a good looking car, I love station wagons and currently drive a Taurus-X wagon

I like Fairlanes and Galaxy's. And here's a tangent : Ever see The Adventures of Ford Fairlane?

:)

My first car wasn't worth remembering ... a 1982 Pontiac J2000. No A/C or power steering. :D

Memories

A 1970 Chevy Nova, with the 307. I bought it at a farm sale in the summer of 1976 for $25.00. It came with several carboard boxes of parts, LOL, some of which didn't even belong to it. I spend the fall with my cousin, wandering junk yards and raiding abandoned cars for needed parts. We rebuild it and in November, on Thanksgiving Day we started it for the first time. I drove it for twelve years, across the entire counrry several times, and it became my trusty weekend car as I advanced in age and income and bought other cars. It 1988 it was parked on the city street in front of my house when a city garbage truck backed into and pushed it over the curb, killing it. Like one of the earlier posters I sometimes look at used car sales and think about buying another, but it would be a little bit too much like dating the woman who looks like the girl you dated in high school.

I still have my first car. I learned how to drive in it, and then used it only in the summer. It's a '72 Hurst/Olds Cutlass. It was a replica of the '72 Pacecar, It was where luxury met muscle; Hurst did the tranny, and it has a 455 engine in it. Oldsmobile could forgo many specs and regulations because it was the Pacecar. It's rear wheel drive, and it has a radio and a sunroof.

Three generations of my family have had sex in that car. I still own it, it's been in the family since 1972. My daily driver is an '88 Ford Bronco XLT. She gets thirsty, and she's a finicky old gal, (rough cold morning starts, windows, elec system, nothing major)but overall she's pretty reliable. Yes I have a block heater, no I do not have a garage.

1952 Chevrolet two dr hardtop, and it was a great car. Never had sex in it. My 2nd car was a model T, no sex in it either.

My first car was a 1990 red Honda civic wonder. After numerous accounts of smooching other cars motorcycles, and other public transports, my dad took it back and then gave me a Suzuki Jimny which I used for 2 years.

My first car was a 71 Alfa Spyder that when I started driving it had 108k on it..rebuilt the engine on it, it was a sweet car that had the typical Italian car problems with rust, but the engine and trans in that car were amazing for a 1.8 liter car, had a lot of fun in it. Took it off the road when I was in college, it sat in the garage for years, did a total engine rebuild, did the body work, and never found time to finish it. Several years ago my wife made me get rid of it, it was taking up the garage, and it prob was a good thing, when I pushed it out to allow the guy to flatbed it, the steering box literally exploded.....I pass by places near me that have spyders from the same era in red, and they are tempting, like crack to an ex-addict :) She was like that turbulent girlfriend who one moment you are having hot sex and the next moment she is trying to kill you.....

My first car was a 1980 Lada Samara Brock special convertible. The kind with the button down roof.

It was my mum's and she gave it to me on my 21st birthday. It had been sitting, rotting in the driveway for a few years and although the basic mechanics were sound, everything else needed a full rebuild.

It had no power steering, weighed a bloody shittonne and sometimes used to stall on really hot days if it idled too long. The boot was awkward, the engine was tiny and parts were a bitch.

But it got great k's, never broke down, I could do all the minor servicing myself, was as solid as a tank so I always felt safe in it and was full of sentimental value.

God I miss that car.

The other car I loved was my grandad's two door valiant regal. One owner from new, original engine, never had a dent, driven around Australia at least twice, over a million miles on the clock. He used to touch it up with white outdoor paint. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but mechanically it was a masterpiece. He gave it to the young apprentice mechanic who did half price servicing for him when he got too old to drive it anymore.

Mine was a 1988 Chevrolet Sprint. 49bhp 3 cylinder. Brand new. 16th birthday gift.

I remember driving it around when I first got. Amazed at the gas mileage. The gauge was way below E, but no low fuel light.

Wait, there is no low fuel light.

Glad I had a friend with me to push ;)

First car was an orange 78' 244 Volvo. Got it in 1990 for 1200$ from this older chap named Leo. Took me and my friends all over the country. It was a tank of a car but rock solid. Sold it 4 years later for the same amount I paid for it.
