The Pirate King's Mermaid

In elegance she sits upon the rock,
hidden within her cove, littered with skulls,
skulls from the fools who tried to steal her lovers treasure,
safely placed within the cove, for her to protect.

Her shawl of soft white lace, covers her back and arms,
keeping the sea breeze, from kissing her skin.
A key dangles over her waist,
a key to the chest, of gold that glitters and shimmers.

It is but a memory now, as the pirate king,
has been so long gone, yet she remains loyal,
staying to protect his chests of gold and gems,
in a cove hidden and safe from all thieves.
