See for me this is like "ok, cool, lights are on, people are home" I don't see it as SAMMY or baiting. If I was with someone who was let down because I didn't beat them for having a smart mouth but did beat them because I felt like it, though, I'd have issues.

This point, seris and spectres all fits into how he and I are together.

He doesn't beat me for every comment, otherwise I would stop saying them and become a different, more timid, doormat type person.
It would be similar to how people look when they are repeatedly verbally, emotionally or physically abused.

The other reason he doesn't do it everytime I say something close to the line is because LDR has wonderful advantages. I
can say many things by phone (in IM is a mistake, conversations can be saved) and by the time we meet his short term memory has lost the reason I was supposed to be beaten. Which, of course, just makes me laugh so much.

Net - His beer comment, made me laugh out loud. I know many Dommes and Doms who would not have your take on it, and imagining their faces should ANY sub say that to them just makes me sit and grin. Thank you for sharing that.

That's one of the reasons I'm a bit more fiesty when he's sick or tired or something like that. In those cases he usually doesn't feel like punishing me at that moment for too many zingers in a row so he'll either add it later and end up forgeting about it, or just not bother at all. *giggles* but he's cought me a couple of times when I didn't know he was feeling better and I made one too many smart assed comments.

before reading this thread i actually wasn't aware that there was a difference between a SAMmy and a brat. i just thought they were 2 different ways of saying the same thing. i know that many Dominants prefer or enjoy a smart-alecky, sassy, cheeky type of submissive, but those are all things that my Master told me from day one that he would not tolerate...he considers those characteristics directly opposed to submission. and even though i've never considered myself anything close to a brat or smart aleck, there have been a couple of times i've been slapped or scolded for making a lighthearted sarcastic comment. it's just taught me to always think of what to say before i say it. that isn't to say that i'm always expected to be serious and composed, laughing and joking is fine, just keeping in mind to always be mindful of my place and respectful to him.
