Sev's Masked Ball.

"I'm glad that I can make you smile. Yes, my work is based largely on my own perverted nature and fantasies. Any in particular come to mind?" I ask her.

I moved about the room, taking in the sights and sounds of the party. Now and then, I'd stop to chat with someone, to ask about a certain painting or to simply stand back in some vague shadow and people watch. It's what I do, watch people, because they fascinate me. Human nature fascinates me. I'm a writer so it's not surprising. My eyes find Miss Illi, still talking to our host. It's good to see her again. I'm glad she has returned. I can't help the arching of one brow as I note our host has exchanged his devil's costume for Zorro, I believe. My eyes linger on his whip before they slide away to watch the dancers.

Somewhere in my journey around the ballroom, my empty champagne flute is exchanged for a full one. I really need to pay attention to such things lest I return home with the giggles and a hangover with my morning coffee. Our host has a taste for the finer things in life or he simply admires beautiful things and collects them. I adjust my mask and stand back as I resume my people watching.

She smiled at him "well, i am subscribed to married to satan. And there was another i was reading. Something about a rock star and his old girlfriend. My tastes run a bit... extreme for some."

Noon decides that it might be fun just to see how this party is going. And to play dress up a little bit. He does remember to put on a full mask, as per the theme of the party, but beyond that, he's fully decked out in pirate gear, from the hat all the way down to the bootstraps, with a sword sheath at his side at his side (dull aluminum, rather than plastic or wood, solely for the metalic appearance and the sound it would make when drawing it). He pauses in the doorway.

"Yaargh."

Then he grins as he steps in. He saw Illi, and he made sure to brush past her in the press of bodies, surreptitious sliding a hand down to grope her ass. He gave her a wink when she noticed him, to let her know that he'd seen her, and that he was glad to see her, though he made sure not to interrupt her conversation. He got himself a quick beverage, and then began chatting with other guests, before he noticed Cait. He grinned and then slipped over to her.

"No, I'm not going to talk as a pirate non-stop. It would get annoying pretty quickly."

She arched a brow and grinned in Noon Shadow's direction as she felt him pass. Ever the rogue that one, still it was nice to see him even as she turned her attention back to their host.

She was beginning to think the poor man might not be quite ready for such a naughty creature as she at his soiree.

Another guest had arrived and I could feel a smirk coming on. My suspicions were confirmd as I watched him cross from the entrance to Illi, pausing to grope her ass. Then he was beside me, drink in hand, the dashing pirate.

"No, I'm not going to talk as a pirate non-stop. It would get annoying pretty quickly."

I took a quick sip from my glass and grinned.

"I certainly hope not, Rogue. I'd be tempted to cut out your tongue myself, but alas, I wouldn't want to deprive any of the ladies that catch your eye tonight."

She smiled at him "well, i am subscribed to married to satan. And there was another i was reading. Something about a rock star and his old girlfriend. My tastes run a bit... extreme for some."

"Some extremes are good. I'm not particularly vanilla, as you might have guessed. I'm very much a Scorpio, with all that implies. I'm also a switch and I have an attraction to the idea of superhuman creatures, I admit. The strange, the exotic, and the supernatural. Definitely the occult. A lot of my threads are rooted in that and my fascination with sci-fi, history, and fantasy," I tell her as we eat and drink.

I smile as I see that DW now has a new admirer. I don't particularly blame him. She is a looker and has that magical appeal factor. She has an air of mystery that would make any man notice her.

The pirate might well have his hands full.

Noon gave Caait a quick, Roguish grin. "Well, I'll try to avoid giving you the temptation all the same. I'd hate to learn how to charm a lady without the ability to speak-it might prove quite challenging." He made a face as a small lightbulb went off in his brain at that, a slightly wicked idea, but he kept it to himself. "Not to mention the other things that a tongue is useful for..

He couldn't help but give an approving glance at Cait's dress, his eyes lingering down on the ruby nestled in her cleavage, before drawing his eyes back up to his face. He gave her a slight bow. "You're looking awfully charming this evening yourself. I figured I should as well mentioned it to explain any transgressions of my famously wandering eyes." He noted the champagne glass, and gave it a quick clink with his own before taking a sip, then nodded.

"But I'll do my best to keep eyes, hands, and tongue to myself tonight. That is to say, where they're not wanted, anyway." He gave her a wink and then bowed his head politely before stepping away. A few moments later, he invited a lovely blonde onto the dance floor with him as the music picked up, amused with himself.

She smiled at him then glanced in the direction of her friends, still speaking to her host, "vanilla is over rated. Ienjoy noncon turned seduction with heavy bdsm themes." She shook her head and chuckled as Noon led a pretty little blond on to the dance floor. She and cait were quite used to his roguish way but she enjoyed watching a few of the other ladies swoon for the handsome pirate. She leaned into the man next to her conspiratorially "Innocent is the last thing one might call this particular angel."

"Innocence is overrated, too. I think that we'll get along famously," I wink through my Zorro mask.

"I wonder how he would make if it he had to be the real McCoy," I express amusement at that image.

He grinned and then slipped over once the dance had ended, having caught little snippets of conversation as they flowed back and forth over him. He slipped over to where the angel was speaking with host, and he bowed politely to introduce himself.

"Noon, at yourself," he doffed his cap with a flourish, by way of greeting, then glanced down at the angel. "And this one is right, she's not nearly so innocent as this disguise may make her appear." He grinned lasciviously, then gave a quick wink for both of their benefits.

"Besides, innocence is only fun when it's a temptation-as in, finding ways to corrupt and seduce that innocence, I would say. But then, perhaps that's because I am quite wicked, myself." He smirked and then leaned in to gave Illi a quick kiss on the cheek. "Good to see you around here again, sweetie."

With that, he slipped away, bowing graciously as he departed to leave them back to their conversation, finding himself a place to sit and stretch his legs after the dancing, his eyes scanning the room thoughtfully.

*The idea of a masquerade was amusing to him, especially since the people of this place were always wearing masks anyway. All the same, he found the place without trouble, wandering in through a side entrance and admiring the paintings and sculptures lining the halls. The main ballroom was booming, and he ran his hand through his unruly hair before stepping in.

He got several disturbed looks when guests glimpsed his mask; beneath it he smiled broadly. Many had probably never seen an Oni mask, let alone knew what it was. He'd found it laying on the front counter next to the invite. The mechanized creatures from his shop seemed very skittish near it, but he chalked it up to their nervous nature.

He made a few rounds, seeing if he knew anyone. Noon was foxtrotting with a pretty blonde, Cait was trying to be inconspicuous as a wallflower and failing since her red dress was so ravishing. Another scan of the party found the host, dressed as the dashing hero Zorro. He was chatting with an angel, though her halo was absent. The lavender tips of her wings was familiar, and he smiled again beneath the veneer of his mask. For now, he would simply observe. He sidled next to Cait, nodding a greeting.*

"I like to watch as well. Always interesting things to be seen. Like that dress. Very Jessica Rabbit. Looks very nice on you. And I see Noon is being his usual self. This sort of shindig has always seemed kind of silly, but when in Rome..." he chuckled softly, the sound seeming more menacing than intended when muffled by his mask. Perhaps that was what had worried the clockwork animals...

The Rogue was always amusing. What good is a rogue without his tongue to ply his nature? The kiss on my cheek brought a smile to my lips. I raised my glass in a brief salute as he started to depart.

"Good to see you too, Noon."

I watched, greatly amused as the roguish pirate stepped up to a lovely blonde and charmed her into a dance. Time to move along. A painting had caught my eye across the room. Skirting the edge of the dance floor, I made my way to it, studying it intently, so intently, I didn't hear him approach, but that voice. I knew that voice, even muffled by the mask. I turned a half turn, to bring us shoulder to shoulder. I glanced his way. Smiling at him as I returned to studying the dancers and people chatting.

"Interesting mask, Fr33k. Aren't you afraid that you'll scare off the ladies?"

She glanced down at her dress, then back at him, winking.

"Thank you. I have always liked black and red together."

I gave the room a sweeping look.

"Oh, I don't know. I find such balls to hold a certain mystique. Even if most of us do know each other and the masks do little other than to preserve that air of mystique. And who knows what the night holds."

"The mask, it seems, was chosen for me. And any lady frightened of the mask probably couldn't deal with the man beneath it either."

*He couldn't help but smirk at his own comment. Her statements were quite true; the mystery was what drew people to such events.*

Playing strangers is a popular thing, I believe. Though I think I enjoy watching the masks come off more than seeing them perform. What lies beneath is always more intriguing...

*His eyes wandered from the dance floor to her dress and on to the painting she'd been admiring.*

"All the art here seems to have a hint of...perversity. Nothing too obvious, well, except that statue of the threesome. Have you seen it? I came in through a separate passage, so I got to glimpse a few of the other pieces."

My ears perk up at the mention of the debauchery depicted. Yes, I always had a fondness for hedonistic art, as well as the more classical and refined stuff. My personal favorites were the statutes and paintings of naked angels and nymphs, figures of mythology and such. Not to mention the Sapphic imagery of a special mural that I had painted in another room. Yes, I am a bit of a freak. But that's part of my charm, I hope.

"I see that you have noticed my gallery, or what passes for one. I freely admit to being a sexual deviate and a libertine. That's just who I am. I hope that you enjoy yourself here. The booze might be your own, but the food is complementary. I see that you already revel in the company of certain ladies of angelic persuasion. I, for one, have always delighted in the anonymity of the masque, in addition to the mystery. I like the idea of possible surprises among recent partners in dancing and other....exploits," I laugh as I wield the whip in a very haughty manner.

The inner aristocrat does come out at times. The libertine kind, of course.

*The words of the host have him turning to face the man. Indeed it is Zorro, brandishing his whip as he explains.*

"A deviant and a libertine, eh? You'll do just fine here then. I'm Fr33k by the way, nice ta meetcha."

*The mask hardly tips as he dips in a cordial bow before offering his hand*

"Quite an event, mister..."

*The Oni face tilts to one side as he listens for the host's name*

A light puff of smoke in a distant deserted corner and suddenly a very proper looking woman in Victorian dress and mask is watching over the party. Her eyes never linger for too long but nothing is missed by them.

There is an air of distant loneliness to her...as well as the slightest hint of sulfur...and perhaps the outline of a swishing spaded tail dancing at the hem of her dress

He tucked the note into his pocket with a grin on his face. A masquerade ball. No wonder it had attracted his Lady. Not to mention the fact that she was always so friendly and welcoming to all the new comers to the lounge area. Something that very few people around here, including him, cared about, to do. He usually wasn't much of a social animal. But this could be fun, he thought. There was mischief playing on his lips as a devious thought entered his mind. He went upstairs and got dressed in his batman costume. Did someone snicker? He didn't care.

He had never met the host. He would eventually. And also thank him for the invitation. At the moment, however, it looked like the masked hero was busy having a conversation with another devil, who he thought he recognized. His eyes scanned the room, seeing a couple of other familiar faces. Even though covered up, you couldn't always hide yourself from certain people who knew you. He smiled and moved around for a while, looking at all the art in the spacious ballroom. As he took a sip of the scotch from his glass and turned his gaze slight to the left of where the two men were conversing, he noticed her. His eyes, not the first in that room he was certain, wandered up and down her sexy curves, the dress hugging them so beautifully, the calves, along with a bare thigh peeking out occasionally as she shifted her leg, before they came to rest on her face just as she turned around. If he hadn't been stunned before, he was now. She made those colors look better than they ever did. Red and black together. The jewelry only enhanced her gorgeousness. From head, all the way down to her toes. His gaze struck and locked on to hers.

He wondered how such an exquisite creature was all by herself in a place like this, filled with eligible and able men, as well as women. Chuckling inwardly, he cleared his throat and approached the lady in black quietly, his gaze not wavering until he was standing right next to her, his dark eyes admiring her from behind the mask.

"Your glass is empty. Please, allow me to fill it again."

He smiled devilishly with a slight bow, before extending his hand to take the glass from her fingers.

She had been talking to Fr33k earlier but she had excused herself with the promise to look at the painting that depicted a three way. With a nearly empty glass in hand she moved off again. To sit or stand was her mental debate at the moment. The voice that rasped at her shoulder made her turn slightly to address him. She found herself staring into dark eyes that peered out from a Batman costume. His hand was extended for her glass.

"Thank you. That's very kind of you."

She let her eyes wander over him. He cut quite a daring figure here at the ball. A little naughty curiosity made her wonder what he kept in his utility belt.

His fingers touched hers for a brief moment before they slipped over the flute, his eyes leaving hers at the last moment as he turned to fill more champagne into the glass. Turning back to face her, he offered her the drink.

"Are you here by yourself, or with someone?"

He believed in formalities only to a certain extent. Then they just plain bored him. She was gorgeous. Anyone could see that. He had noticed her eyes wandering over him. It made him smile. He wanted her.

"Thank you. I am Severus Maximus, better known as Severusmax, Severus, or merely Sev. I hope that you enjoy the festivities so far. Every day in my house is Halloween, in a manner of speaking. I love to throw masques, as you can see and even have people just visit in costume. I don't even mind people crashing here if I like them enough, at least not for the night."

"Excuse me, as host, I have to greet the newest guest," I excuse myself to meet Fleshy Nuts. She might smell of brimstone, but unpleasant as that is, she is still a guest. As host, I need to make myself known to all of my guests as much as possible.

I accepted the refilled glass with a smile and a soft thank you. My eyes slipped over him and made a quick sweep of the room as if to confirm something before they returned to the charming Batman.

"Well, I arrived alone. I was hoping I wouldn't be that way for very long."

Lifting the glass to my lips, I let the liquid within slip between my lips leisurely.

He watched silently as her eyes checked out the room before answering him, as if she was looking for someone. It amused him slightly. She said she had arrived alone. And she was right in hoping she wouldn't be that way for long. He would make sure she wasn't.

"Expecting someone...in particular?"

He took a sip from his own glass, his gaze lingering over her lips as they drank the champagne, flicking to the lovely tear drop between the valley of her breasts before returning to her face. He wanted those lips elsewhere. He shifted closer, their shoulders inches apart.

As their host moved off to welcome his varied guests, the angel wandered off to admire the art and eventually to sit on the edge of a small fountain. She had felt the arrival of the succubus. She always did. Probably always would.

Looking around she let her gaze wander over the demoness, sorrowful for the way things were, and then on to each of her friends in turn. It was good to see them all again. Even fr33k had turned up. She was certain that several others would as well, eventually.

Idly she let her fingers play in the water while she hid behind her flowing lavender curls.

I could feel my lips twitch in amusement. I shot him a look without turning my head before I lowered my glass and simply held it in my hand. Taking my sweet time in answering him. My eyes skimmed over the growing crowd before they came back to rest on my current companion. A small shrug of shoulders.

"Perhaps. What brought you to the ball aside from an invitation?"
