sex weapons

I'm sure that fire breeze can provide citations, if she desires.
I know her anti-vaxx comment was spot on, and swoon-worthy.

Noe originally premised his post as history/mythology. I questioned what he meant, too.
I am also well aware of the mythology of using sex as a weapon, but was not sure about where he was going with it, historically. The first thing that popped to mind was rape.

I thought that fire breeze's tone was fine. I saw no reason for her to apologize at all.
I was thinking that Noe would fire back and we'd get to watch a great debate or conversation. It's the Internet, after all, and one does not know how threads containing the phrase "laser tits" will morph.

I don't want to see Noe leave either. He is a friend and my first friend here on Lit.
Maybe he is reacquainting himself with the GB, and seeing how very different this place is from that.
Because that was not fair.

Peace, Staggy. You know I have love for you.
Peace, Noe. You know it too, right?

I rarely post here, but I was asked by someone who does post here to comment on this post, as they were wondering on the accuracies. (Plus, I lost a bet to them and they are calling it in). I am very sorry to say, but this is riddled with historical inaccuracies and mythological falsehoods. I am really not trying to start anything :).

Bacchanalia was not a 'city-wide' orgy, nor was it associate with Sparta. It was Roman and arrived in Roman Liber around 200 BCE, but let's go with the Greek version, Dionysia. That also had nothing to with Sparta: it began in the 400s BCE in Attica (area around modern Athens) - kilometres away from Sparta. Spartans did not have any 'city-wide' orgies (and by the way, Spartan women were not camp followers; they ruled and managed Sparta's wealth whilst the warriors were out fighting) whatsoever. None. Sorry. Sexy as fuck, what with the ripped Spartan men and whatnot, but didn't happen.
And in any case, there was no 'Vampiric women'. Some Greek mythology includes Lamia or Empusa, who may, depending on the myth, drink blood, but these were goddesses and non-humans and are not vampires as we understand them.

Sumer was not ruled by a priestess-prostitute. They were ruled by either a priest-governor or by a king (and Inanna is the Sumerian version of Ishtar), but not a priestess-prostitute. In other words, the various city-states that made up Sumer were usually ruled by men, though some queens/priestess-governor did exist. Sacred prostitution is highly doubted today anyway: those temples and cults which have sacred sex associated with does not come from them nor has been substantiated by the cultures that was attributed to having them; rather, Herodotus and other later Greek historians claim that they did. There may have been sacred sex rituals, but we aren't sure if this was actual sex or simulated (most of the evidence points to the latter). If it did happen, then it was more of an exception rather than the norm, reserved for a few initiates. Again, sexy as fuck, but over-exaggerated.
Also, what you have described about the priestesses seducing the enemy... um... no. We do not have any evidence, nor was it likely to happen. In fact, it really seems an agglomeration of several epics and cycles, some Ancient Near Eastern, some Second Temple narratives, and maybe a Persian myth. The plague bit was unheard of at the time and nope, did not happen.

Some Celtic tribes did fight in the nude, some did not. And some Celtic tribes had women warriors, but most did not. Celts did not believe in a magic mud. They did paint themselves with woad - a type of plant-based dye that paints the skin blue. They did it for many reason, and yes some spiritual, but not because they believed it was magic.

And that bit about weaponised hepatitis? That came from the mind of one man, Dave Mihalovic, who isn't a doctor nor is he a serious researcher, is an anti-vaxxer and has been debunked as a quack. He claims to be a vaccine researcher but published absolutely zero outside of blogposts.

I do apologise for the tone of the post, but I do have to fulfil my debt to the individual and as an anthropologist, this kind of inaccuracies wreaks havoc on me - a bit of a pet peeve, I'm afraid .

I'm not going against your thesis about sex being used a weapon, just that your examples are a bit flawed. :rose:

I'll bow out now.

Buddy, my debt is done, slate is clean. :D

I'm sry. I thought it was a well put together post.

But reasons for edit "Not worth it she already made up her mind."

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to genuinely apologize by cramming words down my throat.

I had assumed that you would retort with more detail and back up your findings so that I could nod along to something that, as I stated before about Stag, was out of my depth. Which you did this morning before removing it. For what it's worth, I enjoyed that post, and would have complimented it too.

In order to debate, Fire would have had to stay around. Which she stated she was not, and yes that is the type of asshatery that GB does. By swooning you supported someone, that attacked me, and yes that tone was, your a moron.

Your statement that Fire can back up her sources, makes it sound like your the Buddy, and you expect me to not be able to cite mine.

Edith Hamiltons Mythology for the Meanads, Neal Stephenson for the Summer stories, in research he did for his book Snow Crash, the Celtic stories "The Story of the Irish Race by Seumas Mac Manus" the Spartan Myth came from my 4th Grade Teacher Mrs Popadopulus, I tried to find facts to support her story, and could not, and because she no longer alive I can not ask her to defend herself... If I could find my Mythology text from Full Sail, I would quote that too. The Weaponized Hep Idea was a DARPA study, it was on wiki leaks, it is gone now.

I learned a long time ago, you can not change people's mind once it has been made, you never even gave me a chance. đź’”

I accept your Peace, but know you wounded me deeply.

Your right that was not Fair, I am sorry. My anger is with someone else, and a little of it leaked out, again I am Sorry.

I'm really glad fire_breeze isn't coming back here to see this. She's awesome and always gives well thought out advice in the HT. I love reading her posts and I loved reading this one here. I don't think she needed to apologize for posting here and I don't think anyone should have been guilted into apologizing for enjoying her post.

If you want to see GB here, fire_breeze and the others that loved her post were not it.

Edited: Stag, you do remember that it's not just Americans posting here, right? Apologise is an accepted spelling outside of North America. And telling someone to "go fuck themselves," :claps: way to go, perhaps you'd like to try your luck in the GB?

not wishing to piss on anyones bonfire. but

sapiosexual - to be turned on my intellect is not an unreasonable position (especially on this a sex forum)

but I'm more interested in the power over people, the compelling of an intelligent woman to post in here her monologue. "Buddy, my debt is done, slate is clean."

Man, it's like everyone went out and google image searched "laser penis gif" and went all wackadoo.

I told you guys not to do it!

Man, I came back in here looking for more laser boobs...

By the way, I am unaware of any substantiated evidence proving the Celts painted themselves with woad at all. This is just a generally accepted rumor, despite the fact that it makes for terrible body paint due to both its tendancy to dry and flake off quickly, and it's need to be mixed with some type of ammonia ( see urine or dung ) to obtain the blue color that the paint they are popularly depicted as sporting had. This, I guess, would have quickly been discovered to be a terrible idea when going into battle ( imagine painting your face or body with an ammonia based medium, then sweating it into your eyes or it getting in any open wounds you recieved ). So, one could assume, given the fact that there was no practical reason to paint themselves at all and being that they were a very superstitious people, that some type of divine protection was indeed associated with it i.e. Magic.

Master actually brought up this point late last night wilst reading this thread. But hardly with so much thought and detail. More of a passing "ummm I don't think I've ever heard of them wearing it..".

Sorry if I came off as a bit harsh, but both my conscience and position as the king of Mars, demand I do not remain silent about such horrendously offensive and life altering falsehoods :D

Sorry if I came off a bit harsh BUT...

And it should be at the beginning of your post. You'd think the King of Mars would know that. :D

Can I just say that despite the bickering the brains and knowledge here has been fascinating.

I'm a "moron"?
I liked what another poster had to say. I'm not apologizing for that. It is a message board.

YOU'RE (Note spelling, please!) the one name calling and flouncing.

I refuse to coddle you on this.
My Peace still stands.

What's your sex weapon to seduce your partner?

I thought you were reterring to some kind of pump up tampon gun. A thought for guys looking for something to invent and sell to a sorority where theyve synced their periods...

Sometimes my ideas amaze me!
