Sir Winston

At my uncle's funeral last week, my cousin read a eulogy and he mentioned something that someone had said to him - the suggestion that they used the memories of my uncle, to continue to share all the good times and experiences they'd had together, for support and comfort.

I'm so glad that you're able to share your memories with us, YK *hug

Thank you everyone for your continued support. Just checking in to say I'm doing okay. I imagine I'll participate here more often in the future but for now I'm mostly taking a break. It's just not the same site without him.

It's not, in fact. :rose:

Haven't been here in a while, I'm so sorry to hear this news. He will be greatly missed.
Strength and hugs to you, YK

Me, too. Yes, he did love his football pool. I never joined in. I was an outsider looking in, I guess. When it was posted in the thread, I was always interested in who thought which team was best and who would win each week's pool.

It has been some time since I have visited lit and I was very sad to come across this thread and read the news.

I didn't know SW very well but I got to know him a little bit from taking part in the football thread and it was always a lot of fun. He was a brilliant guy and will definitely be missed. I would love to know what his thoughts would be about the events during the games last night!

You have my thoughts and best wishes YK. :rose:

YK, I am truly sorry, and thinking of you.

I'm also sorry for this board and its denizens.

I'm sure I'll get to grateful eventually. But not there.

The beaming, as with so many things, will continue.

The Short Humans are telling jokes, and this one made me think of Sir W -

How do you comfort a grammar Nazi?

There, their, they're.

The other night I found myself crying over the loss of my cousin, AGAIN, and today I found this quote. It reminded me of my cousin, but it also made me think of the people who are grieving SW.

"Tonight all the hells of young grief have opened again;
the mad words, the bitter resentment,
the fluttering in the stomach, the nightmare
unreality, the wallowed-in tears.

For in grief nothing ‘stays put.’ One keeps on emerging from a phase,
but it always recurs. Round and round. Everything repeats.

Am I going in circles, or dare I hope I am on a spiral?

But if a spiral, am I going up or down it? "
