Thats why I old people like icky things. :p

If you mean chocolate truffles, well, then, yes, I do. :D If you mean the other kind, then, no, thank you.

And I hope that I'm just truly uncultured and you aren't talking about actual pig snouts and bear's paws. (My grandfather eats pickled pig feets - I kid you not.)

Truffles - the cancery looking mushroom type thingies they get out of the ground

Pig snouts - smoked pig snouts are a "beer snack" in Lithuania ... I kid *you* not.

Bear's paws - nope, roast bear paw. No metaphor here, no rocky mt. oyster this.

(I eat bananas, I kid you not)

I heard pig snout is an aphrodisiac.

That's news to me!

I had trouble keeping my beer down, when I found porcine nose hair on the chunk of snout I was thinking of ingesting.

I knew what truffles were.

And thank goodness I'm a vegetarian. You omnivores are gross.

You vegetarians are traitors to your kind! Look at your teeth! Look at your intestines! You *need* flesh ... raw, beating, quivering red ... oops. Nope, that's steak tatar. :p

But I think we were talking about wine - would you like a wine that tastes like fr00t juice?

You know, I used to really dislike wine, particularly reds. As I got older, I now find that I prefer red wines. Strange how the palate changes.

For my part I have two favorties. Gewurtrazminer and Valpolicella. Gewurtz I have found, is so hit and miss it's scary. The best one I've found is by Fetzer, which while pretty commercial, makes a decent wine. It's a fairly sweet wine and I like the apricot overtones, but it's not as overly sweet like a Johanesburg. Valpolicella is a really smooth wine with a lot of flavor. It doesn't ahve the bite of a cabernet or the heaviness of a merlot. It's one of the few wines I've found i can drink on it's own or with food. I have a brand we buy every once in a while as a table wine, but occasionally we'll a more expensive version. I have only had one bad bottle and that was at the Olive Garden. It was truly just one bad bottle though and the replacement was awesome.

Now, I can't remember the exact location, but my sister worked at a vinyard in the Bordeaux region of France for a year. The reds she brought back were the most incredible wine I have ever tasted. My family hates wine, except my sister and I. To say we had a good homecoming party for her would be an understatement!!!

Our canines and inscisors are quite reduced. Plus, there are quite a few primates who have enormous canines and they eat leaves or fruit or nuts.

Funny, I have never tasted this "fr00t juice" you speak of. Is it a special beverage for computer geeks?

I adore Ice Wines..... ummmmmm

have had several different Vineyards offerings... and all are to my liking.

Almost forgot - didn't mean the canines or incisors, but the ... molars. Thass it. Molars. Too small for vegetarianism.

Aaah a wine snobs thread, cool.
I prefer sweet wines or fortifieds and liqueurs rather than the other stuff.

I'm with Bi on this one, I have been told that it is an acquired taste; right, so I drink something I hate until I like it.

After working in a winery for a few years the terms "well travelled" "full bodied" "special blend" and a few others, have a very different meaning for me. Drink, enjoy

Oh yeah

another vote for red wines

My favorite is Ridge 2000 California Coast Range. It's a blend of zinfandel (red), Carignane, Petite Sirah, Grneache, Sangiovese, & Mataro.

Then I have an extremely cheap wine that I purchase at Trader Joe's. It's from the Chilean Collection and is a Cab, Sauvignon & Merlot blend. Cheap for the lightweight that I am.

Trader Joe's is one of my favorites. Every Saturday the store where I shop has a small tasting table. I can usually count on finding one new label that I like each time I visit. If you like cheap, have you tried their "Two Buck Chuck?"

Nothing is as good as the picture on that label...but the wine is quite good.
